Associate Planning Engineer

to join our dynamic Energy & Systems Solutions team. In this role, you will provide transmission planning consulting services as an entry-level engineer, working under the supervision of senior staff on projects for Municipal Utilities, Investor-Owned Utilities, and Regional Planning organizations (ISOs/RTOs). This position offers a foundational opportunity to develop technical expertise within the Leidos Planning practice. Responsibilities You will work on day-to-day objectives with limited impact beyond the scope of your assigned project team. Duties include: Technical Support:

Solve simple, routine technical problems following established procedures and policies. Systems Analysis:

Apply basic principles, theories, and concepts of electrical engineering to support transmission system planning and power system analysis. Tool Utilization:

Utilize and develop proficiency in industry-standard analytical tools such as ETAP, SKM, CYME, Synergi, WindMil, PSS/E, PSLF, PowerGEM TARA, or ASPEN. Documentation:

Assist in the technical writing of project findings and contribute to the preparation of basic analysis for project reports. Communication:

Communicate with peers to explain facts, basic analysis, and engineering processes related to your work area. Professional Development:

Learn to apply NERC reliability standards FERC regulatory policies, or IEEE standards to real-world infrastructure projects. Qualifications Education:

Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE). Experience:

Approximately 0 - 4 years of prior relevant experience preferred. Knowledge:

Basic knowledge of and ability to apply principles, theories, and concepts of the electrical engineering domain (e.g., load flow, short circuit, and basic circuitry). Analytical Skills:

Ability to solve routine technical problems in a team environment. Communication:

Demonstrates solid oral and written communication skills for peer-to-peer collaboration. Travel:

Pay Range $57,850.00 - $104,575.00
