The Spartan Weekly is Spartanburg County’s trusted community newspaper, serving readers since 1963. We deliver local news, features, and public notices to thousands of residents every week through print and digital channels. We’re looking for a motivated salesperson to help local businesses reach our engaged audience through print, website, and social media advertising packages.

The Opportunity

This is a pure commission sales role with flexible hours. You will sell proven advertising packages (print display ads, website banners, and social media posts) to local businesses across Spartanburg County. Whether you want full-time earnings potential or a flexible part-time opportunity, this role can fit your goals.

What You’ll Do

• Prospect and meet with local business owners (retail, restaurants, real estate, medical, services, etc.)
• Present simple, high-value advertising packages
• Close new business and manage existing accounts
• Build long-term relationships with advertisers
• Meet or exceed monthly sales targets

Compensation

• Competitive commission: 25% of collected advertising revenue
• Realistic earnings potential:
• – Strong part-time: $1,500–$3,000+/month– Strong full-time: $2,500–$4,000+/month (top performers can earn more)
• Paid only on collected revenue
• No cap on earnings

Requirements

• Self-motivated and comfortable with outbound sales / prospecting
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• Reliable transportation and ability to meet clients throughout Spartanburg County
• Basic computer skills (email, simple CRM or spreadsheets)
• Previous sales experience preferred but not required — especially valuable if you have local business connections
• Positive, professional attitude and belief in the value of local media
