divh2Radiology Nursing Opportunity At Vanderbilt University Medical Center/h2pApplies the nursing process to plan and implement the care of patients, including patient and family education and continuum of care planning. Effectively communicates pertinent patient/family information to the health care team. Collaborates in establishing patient goals and evaluates progress to ensure effective outcomes. Furthers professional growth by engaging in learning activities according to the Board of Nursing standards./ppSHIFT: The person in this role will work three 12 hour shifts from 6:30am-7:00p for a total of 36 hours per week. There will be a weekend requirement of 2-3 weekend shifts in a 6-week scheduling period, and we anticipate the holiday coverage to be 1 major and 1 minor./ppThe person in this role will work a hybrid of Radiology Resource nursing and Nuclear Medicine. The Resource RN will float around between MRI, ROCU (Recovery and Observation Care Unit for IR patients), Pet Floro, CT and IV Cubby and will act as a resource to various areas of Radiology. The person in this role will be the first to respond to a stat or rapid call, access port, monitor pace makers, etc./ppNuclear medicine nurse responsibilities include:/pulliCardiac stress perfusion studies on mostly adults but also on children/liliStress testing in the PET department Most of the nuclear stress testing is done on inpatients. We generally use Regadenoson, Adenosine, Dobutamine or treadmills to accomplish this./liliWe do Viability studies in PET to test for hibernating myocardium using high dose insulin gtts combined with glucose and potassium./liliWe do brain mappings/ stress with Diamox or adenosine./liliNurses perform sarcoid studies in PET using heparin./liliWe monitor mapping patients after procedures in Interventional Radiology./liliCoronary CTAs are done regularly utilizing metoprolol IV, diltiazem IV and nitroglycerin./liliHelp thyroid cancer patients with prepping them for Iodine therapies and testing./liliWe teach the nuclear medicine students the patient care curriculum in the allied health program.
