Open up opportunities with HPE.Job Description:Seeking a highly motivated Firmware Engineering Manager (MG1) to lead a team of firmware engineers responsible for the design, development, debugging, and delivery of firmware for HPE server platforms. This role combines technical leadership and people management, with responsibility for driving execution, ensuring high-quality deliverables, and developing engineering talent up to the Principal Engineer level.Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical & Delivery LeadershipLead end-to-end execution of firmware development for server platformsOversee architecture design and feature development, system bring-up, integration, and validation, debugging and root cause analysis across hardware/firmware interactionsDrive resolution of complex issues spanning CPU, memory, PCIe, and platform-level subsystems, and silicon, board, and system-level interactionsEnsure firmware quality, performance, and compliance with platform requirementsPartner with cross-functional teams (hardware, silicon vendors, validation, manufacturing, and OS teams) and customersPeople ManagementManage a team of engineers (entry level through Principal Engineer)Set clear expectations for deliverables, quality standards, and execution timelinesConduct performance management, coaching, and career development conversationsBuild a strong talent pipeline and succession planning capabilityFoster a culture of accountability, ownership, and continuous improvementExecution & Program ManagementTranslate product and platform requirements into actionable firmware plansTrack and manage delivery across multiple concurrent programsIdentify risks early and drive mitigation plansEnsure alignment with overall platform schedules and release milestonesDrive operational excellence across firmware development processesCollaboration & InfluenceWork closely with senior technical leaders and architects on firmware strategyCollaborate across global teams to ensure alignment and execution continuityRepresent firmware engineering in cross-functional program discussionsCommunicate status, risks, and technical insights clearly to stakeholdersEducation and Experience Required: First level university degree or equivalent experience required.May have advanced university degree.Typically 5 or more years of related work experience, including 0-2 years of people management experience.Preferred QualificationsStrong communication skills (e.g. written, verbal, presentation); mastery in EnglishStrong multi-tasking and prioritization skillsPrevious people management experience (or strong technical lead transitioning to management)Experience with server platforms, x86 architecture, and enterprise systemsFamiliarity with industry standards (BIOS/UEFI, ACPI, PCIe, SMBIOS, etc.)Experience working with silicon vendors (Intel/AMD) and ODM partnersStrong understanding of firmware development lifecycle and release processesPrior experience leading technical projects or small teamsWhat We Can Offer You:Health & WellbeingWe strive to provide our team members and their loved ones with a comprehensive suite of benefits that supports their physical, financial and emotional wellbeing.Personal & Professional DevelopmentWe also invest in your career because the better you are, the better we all are.
