About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse - ICU Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 6 Weeks Shift: 12 Hours Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Epic experience Description: The position requires floating between two facilities as needed. Candidates must not have been employed by any associated facility within the past year. Candidates who were employed through outside firms will be considered. RN must pass the Basic Dysrhythmia test with a score of 83% before signing the contract. They will have three attempts to pass the test. Call outs are strongly discouraged and could lead to termination. RNs may be asked to precept as needed by the unit. Guaranteed hours of 48 per week are available; 36 hours may be considered if needed. The ICU has a typical census of 6-8 patients. The RN to patient ratios are 1:2 for ICU and 1:4 for PCU. Common patient diagnoses include cardiac issues, sepsis, overdoses, and general surgery. Experience in titrating critical care drips is required. There is a charge nurse on each shift who also takes patients. Techs are available depending on hospital census. Clientists are available 24/7; intensives are on site Monday through Thursday. Respiratory Therapy is available in the unit 24/7. RNs are expected to interpret their own strips. The scheduling is done 4 weeks in advance, with an aim for block scheduling. Weekend requirements are 4 shifts per month. Holiday coverage is expected based on unit needs. There is a possibility of being put on call for low census. RNs may be asked to float to other units as needed. Scrub color is navy, and undershirts must also be navy. A total of 3 shifts of unit-specific orientation will be provided. The unit is known for its supportive and family-oriented team. There is a policy that allows the facility to cancel shifts under certain conditions. Charting is performed using the MEDHOST system.
