Medical Surgical/Oncology Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Medical Surgical/Oncology Registered Nurse (RN) to join our healthcare team. This role focuses on providing quality patient care in a supportive environment, with particular emphasis on oncology patients receiving chemotherapy. The ideal candidate will have experience in a similar setting and will be part of a dynamic unit that values teamwork.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care to adults and geriatrics with a variety of diagnoses including stroke, hypertension, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), cellulitis, congestive heart failure (CHF), atrial fibrillation, and acute myocardial infarction.
• Administer chemotherapy and manage care for oncology patients, working closely with the healthcare team.
• Monitor and titrate intravenous drips (e.g., Lasix, Heparin) as necessary.
• Respond to patient needs and collaborate with nursing staff and other healthcare professionals for optimal outcomes.
• Assist with BiPAP and trach management, focusing on established protocols.
• Participate in unit orientation and training for new staff and travelers.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) with a minimum of 2 years of experience in a medical-surgical or oncology setting.
• Current BLS certification and NIHSS certification required.
• Experience with telemetry monitoring preferred but not mandatory.
• Ability to float to other MedSurg units as needed.
• Comfortable reading and interpreting telemetry strips, though a dedicated monitor tech is available.

Shift Details

• Scheduled for nights with a commitment to every other weekend and as needed for holidays.
• Shift length is 12 hours with guaranteed hours set at 48 per week.
• Unit operates with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5-6 during night shifts.
