Senior Cost Accountant

Summary The Sr. Cost Accountant & Analyst is responsible for accurately accounting of inventory under standard costing, calculation of product cost and variances, preparation and analysis of production margins, assisting with month‑end close, including preparation of journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, assisting with the audit preparation and requests, performing other accounting duties as assigned. Key Responsibilities Develop, maintain, and analyze standard costs for products and manufacturing processes. Calculate product costs, including direct materials, direct labor, and manufacturing overhead. Monitor and analyze manufacturing variances (labor, material, overhead, purchase price, and production variances). Prepare monthly cost accounting journal entries and account reconciliations. Inventory Accounting Maintain accurate inventory costing within the ERP system. Reconcile inventory accounts and investigate discrepancies. Participate in physical inventories and cycle count programs. Analyze inventory reserves, excess and obsolete inventory, and inventory valuation. Ensure compliance with inventory accounting policies and internal controls. Financial Analysis and Reporting Support month‑end and year‑end financial close activities. Assist in preparing financial statements and supporting schedules. Develop dashboards and reports that provide insight into manufacturing performance. Requirements Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance. 5+ years of cost account experience with manufacturing is required. Public company and SOX experience. ERP experience: JD Edwards, D365 or other similar ERP systems. Special Knowledge / Skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Good analytical skills with ability to interpret complex financial data. Strong proficiency in Excel and ERPs. Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy in work output.
