Job Type Classification: Nonexempt Supervises Positions: No Job Responsibilities Patient Care: Act with patient advocacy when implementing the interdisciplinary plan of care. Collaborates with the healthcare team to educate the patient and their support system. Analyzes, modifies, and implements strategies to progress the patient through their plan of care. Ensures completion of nursing interventions, medical orders, and related therapies. Prioritizes duties according to patients’ needs and changing acuity levels. Communication: Consistently utilizes appropriate communication tools within the interdisciplinary team and when handing off patient care. Communicates individualized plan of care to the patient and their support system. Uses SBARQ to communicate more effectively. Documents information in a timely manner. Teamwork: Develops and maintains positive relationships with team members to provide efficient patient treatment. Develops team members through mentoring, precepting, orientation, and feedback. Resolves conflicts independently when appropriate. Accepts responsibility and responds positively to feedback. Medical Knowledge: Demonstrates medical skills to provide required patient care. Operates equipment (e.g., portable cardiac monitors). Performs routine nursing tasks (e.g., starting IVs, dressing changes). Assists in critical situations including CPR. Administers and evaluates medications, transports patients as needed. Qualifications Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Experience: 1 year of relevant experience preferred. Refer to Life Support Training Policy for details. Licensure: Current RN licensure in applicable state required. CPI certification within three months of hire required for Behavioral Health, Emergency Department, and Central Staffing and Scheduling Office (CSSO). If your RN license has been inactive for five years or more, you may need a board-approved refresher course prior to reactivating/reinstating. Reinstatement must be pursued within one year of completing the refresher. Additional Skills/Requirements Required: Ability to perform basic nursing skills on groups of patients, multitask, prioritize, administer medications using the five rights, communicate verbally and in writing, and basic computer skills. Ability to care for all patient populations presenting to the department. Additional Skills/Requirements Preferred: N/A Physical Demands: Physical Demand Code: 20A, Nursing. Work Function/Activity: Medium to Heavy Physical Demand. Constant standing; frequent walking; bending/stooping. Proficient communication, auditory, and visual skills. Ability to lift/push/pull 100 lbs with Safe Handling Equipment for weights over 35 lbs.
