Aclouding is an accounting and tax advisory firm serving business owners, entrepreneurs, and clients with U.S.–Canada interests. We combine ongoing accounting support with proactive tax planning, giving our clients clear financial information and guidance throughout the year.

We're looking for an experienced accounting and tax professional who can take ownership of client work from day-to-day accounting through financial reporting, tax preparation, and more advanced assignments.

This is a hands-on role requiring strong capabilities in both accounting and tax. You should be comfortable getting into the details, resolving issues, and moving work forward independently while recognizing when a matter requires additional review.

This position requires working onsite at our office. Remote and hybrid arrangements are not available. Applicants must be able to reliably commute to the office.

What you'll do

Full-cycle accounting

• Manage accounting for multiple clients, including bookkeeping, account reconciliations, adjusting journal entries, and month-end and year-end close.
• Prepare and analyze financial statements, investigate discrepancies, and maintain accurate, well-supported records.
• Handle catch-up and cleanup work, resolve historical accounting issues, and bring incomplete books into a reliable reporting position.
• Maintain continuity between clients' accounting records, financial statements, and tax filings.

Tax preparation and planning

• Prepare U.S. federal and state business and individual tax returns, including supporting schedules and workpapers.
• Identify tax adjustments, research technical questions, and apply sound judgment to routine and more complex matters.
• Support tax projections, estimated payments, and proactive planning alongside the advisory team.
• Assist with tax notices, filing issues, and follow-up with the relevant authorities.

Client ownership and collaboration

• Communicate directly with clients to obtain information, explain findings, and keep assignments moving.
• Manage competing deadlines across a portfolio of clients while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
• Take assignments from initial records through completion, with organized documentation and clear communication.
• Contribute to stronger workflows and collaborate with the team on complex accounting and tax matters.

What we're looking for

• At least 3 years of relevant experience, ideally 5 or more , with substantial hands-on responsibility in both accounting and tax.
• Ability to independently manage a full accounting cycle and prepare business and individual tax returns.
• Strong understanding of financial statements, tax treatment, and the relationship between the two.
• Proficiency with accounting and tax preparation software, along with strong Excel skills.
• Strong analytical judgment, organization, and written and verbal communication.
• A willingness to handle the full range of client work—from foundational tasks to advanced assignments—with the same level of care and accountability.

Strong advantages

• Active CPA license or Enrolled Agent designation.
• Public accounting or accounting firm experience managing multiple client engagements.
• Experience with complex business returns, multi-entity businesses, and multistate filings.
• Exposure to Canadian accounting and tax or U.S.–Canada cross-border matters.
