Store AssociateReports To: Store DirectorTime Commitment: Part-time, non-exempt 10-20 hours per week; Required: Ability to work two Saturdays each month, and a mix of daily schedules (closing 2 - 3 times per week - to 6:30 PM Mondays / Tuesdays / Wednesdays, and to 8:30 PM Thursdays / Fridays / Saturdays)Position Summary: The Associate will support operations at Overflow Thrift Stores by accepting donations, processing donations, assisting customers to make purchases, operating the cash register, stocking inventory, maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the store, and exhibiting a positive attitude in all interactions with customers, staff and volunteers. We seek to communicate openly and honestly with one another, accepting responsibility for words and actions, striving to speak only that which edifies.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesComplete daily tasks under the direction of Store Operations DirectorsProvide excellent customer service Answer customer questions in a manner consistent with the stores mission and valuesEngage with donors proactively and respectfullyEncounter all stakeholders with kindnessComplete daily tasks as assigned Complete daily cleaning to assure the store remains tidy and clutter-freeComplete daily productivity checklistOperate cash register to complete customer sales Adhere to OTS Pricing and Discount PolicyAssist donors as they donate items, including carrying boxes and bags, assisting with carrying furniture, pushing carts of donated material, etc.Sort donations as instructed. Move items into trash or recycling, when appropriate. Remove trash to the exterior dumpster.Assist with creating attractive, engaging displays, as directedFollow and assist department processes for sorting, pricing and stocking productComplete opening and closing tasks, including cash drawer management, when assignedServe as an ambassador to OTS volunteers - creating an environment of appreciation for our volunteers while supporting volunteers to achieve the OTS mission Collaborate with volunteers on assigned work prioritiesCommunicate with volunteers with kindness, respect and appreciationParticipate in planned volunteer trainings, groups, and appreciation as scheduledUtilize training and pricing guides for volunteer onboarding, as directed by DirectorsOther duties as assignedMinimum Qualifications:Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with continuous standing, carrying, bending, squatting, pulling, and pushing. This is a constant expectation of the role. This is a physically-active role - staff should expect to be standing and moving approximately 95% of their shifts. The work includes cleaning the online store area (mopping, sweeping, dusting), cleaning merchandise, moving boxes and merchandise repeatedly, using and moving packing materials, pushing heavy carts, moving displays, etc.Ability to work outside in all weather on a variety of tasks such as assisting donors as they remove items from their vehicles, removing trash from the store to exterior dumpsters, helping customers with merchandise pick-ups, etc. This is a constant expectation of the role.Ability to work two Saturdays each month, and a mix of daily schedules (closing 2 - 3 times per week- to 6:30 PM Mondays / Tuesdays / Wednesdays, and to 8:30 PM Thursdays / Fridays / Saturdays)Environmental Conditions:Work is performed primarily in a retail thrift store environment. Exposure to varying temperatures in donation processing, storage, warehouse, and receiving areas. Exposure to dust, odors, and used or donated items of varying condition.
