Direct Support Professional (DSP) - Day Program

Direct Support Professional (DSP) Provides direct care and support to adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities in community-based settings, promoting independence, community integration, and personal well‑being. The DSP reports to the Program Supervisor and works within Adult Intellectual and Developmental Disability Day Programs. Work Schedule Full-time, 40 hours per week, 1st shift; no weekends or holidays. Responsibilities Develop and facilitate individualized programs of functional, social, and daily living skills instruction. Support participants’ emotional, physical, and personal well‑being in their homes or community settings. Assist adults in developing life‑skills such as cooking, housekeeping, money management, personal hygiene, and other appropriate skills. Encourage individuals to pursue hobbies and interests, promote community integration and independence. Provide guidance, instruction, and role modeling to help achieve personal goals. Complete required documentation, including electronic health record entries, accurately and timely. Collaborate with agencies, family members, and other service providers; attend meetings and share relevant information. Assist with arranging medical care and follow healthcare recommendations, including dietary guidelines. Conduct fire drills, manage emergency situations during shifts, and provide coverage as needed. Qualifications Minimum 18 years of age with a high school diploma or equivalency. Valid driver’s license, good driving record, and reliable vehicle for trainings, meetings, and transportation of participants. Ability to administer medication and treatments as authorized by regulations. No prior experience required. Salary & Benefits Starting wage $17 per hour with potential increases based on IDD experience. Paid 2‑week orientation and reimbursement for orientation travel.
