Location: Seattle, WA 98117

Employment Type: Part-time | 15–20 hours per week

Schedule: 3 days per week | 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM - Monday through Wednesday or Friday (no Thursdays). Additional flexibility for the occasional 3:00pm school pickups needed outside of core hours.

Compensation: $37–$40 per hour / based on experience

About Our Family

We're a blended family of four living in North Ballard, Seattle, withtwo working parents and two kids (10 & 12) who keep life full, fun, and wonderfully busy. We've been in our current home for about a year and a half and are still putting down roots, which means there is meaningful work to be done and thoughtful systems to build. We love our home and care deeply about how it looks, feels, and functions. Design, organization, and aesthetic sensibility are important to us, and we genuinely welcome someone who notices the details, brings ideas to the table, and can help us continue creating a home that feels intentional and well cared for.

Our household has a warm, open energy. We want our House Manager to feel genuinely at home here, we value kindness, humor, collaboration, and open communication, and we're looking for someone who wants to build a real relationship with our family over time. With two dogs, a seasoned Husky-Aussie mix and a brand-new Cavapoo puppy still learning the ropes of crate training, there is plenty of personality, activity, and heart in our home.

Both parents work primarily from home, so our household is active throughout the day and the support we need is both real and consistent. With our kids with us most of the week, one of our biggest goals in adding this support is to create more presence and breathing room for our family — less time spent managing the endless details of the household and more time to be connected with each other.

Ultimately, we're looking for someone who can grow and evolve with our family, both in what they take on today and in what the household may need in the future. We want to build a relationship with someone we can trust for the long term — someone who learns our rhythms, understands how our family works, brings ideas and solutions to the table, and gradually becomes an extension of our family rather than simply someone who works in our home.

You're comfortable holding multiple moving pieces at once and have the judgment to prioritize what matters most without becoming overwhelmed when plans shift or something unexpected comes up.

You bring a calm, steady presence to the home along with genuine warmth and emotional intelligence. You're naturally comfortable around children and pets and understand that being part of a family's household requires both professionalism and relationship-building. You're thoughtful about how you show up, grounded in your communication, and able to create a sense of ease even when the household is busy. You also have a strong eye for organization and design and appreciate the difference between a home that is simply functional and one that feels beautiful, intentional, and well cared for.

We're looking for someone who communicates clearly and efficiently. You are naturally about to think through solutions and come prepared with ideas. You're comfortable identifying decisions or potential roadblocks early, batching non-urgent questions, and keeping a shared project list or system that helps everyone stay aligned. You know when to take initiative independently and when something needs to be brought to the family, and you understand that good household support should create clarity rather than add more mental load.

Key Responsibilities

Family Support

• Occasional school pickup for one child (approximately 35 minutes from home, no traffic); coordination of on-call availability when needed
• Activity prep and logistics: ensuring sports equipment (skates, ski gear, football gear) is clean, organized, and ready before each kid's scheduled activities
• Backpack, clothing, and snack prep for school days
• Light supervision and backup childcare as needed

Household Organization & Maintenance

• Build and maintain household organization systems throughout the home, with an eye for both function and aesthetics
• Daily resets: making beds, clearing surfaces, managing dishes, vacuuming high-traffic areas, and prepping the home for weekly cleaners
• Mail collection, sorting, and package handling (including breaking down boxes and managing returns)
• Indoor plant care
• Seasonal clothing, bedding, and equipment swaps; donation coordination
• Holiday and event prep, including supporting the planning and logistics of a large Thanksgiving gathering (approximately 20 guests), with pre- and post-event clean-up
• Packing and unpacking support for family travel
• Routine home upkeep: replacing batteries, light bulbs, smoke detector batteries, and similar small-but-important tasks

Inventory & Errands

• Pantry, fridge, and household supply restocking
• Maintaining a running household supply and grocery list
• Managing household orders and subscriptions
• Returns, gift shopping, and errand coordination

Meal Support

• Approximately 4 dinners per week: open to batch-prep, ingredient prep, or freshly prepared
• Grocery shopping with a shared list; helping build a master staples list based on the family's regular needs
• School snacks and lunch stocking (primarily inventory and prep)
• Kitchen clean-up and maintenance

  Dietary notes (strictly observed):

  • No tree nuts in the home. One child has a severe tree-nut allergy; cashews in particular have resulted in a medical emergency. Peanuts, almonds, pistachios, and coconut are permitted. All other nuts are prohibited. No nut-based foods or substitutes may be brought in without explicit approval from the parents.
  • One parent follows a mostly plant-based diet with minimal meat.
  • One parent cannot have cream-based products (e.g., ice cream, sour cream); standard dairy such as milk, butter, and cheese is fine.

Laundry & Linens

• Wash, dry, fold, and put away laundry for the full household
• Linen care and rotation
• Maintaining a tidy and well-stocked laundry area

Pet Care

• Daily feeding and walks for both dogs
• Monthly flea and tick medication reminders
• Maintaining pet supplies
• Occasional overnight pet care

Vehicle Upkeep

• Cleaning, fueling, and organizing family vehicles

Deep Cleaning & Special Projects

• Priority organization areas: home office, front closet, hall closet, upstairs bathrooms, laundry room, garage, and workout area
• Occasional deep cleans: refrigerator, oven, baseboards
• Refreshing entryway and mudroom areas
• Cleaning and maintaining humidifiers and air purifiers

Vendor & Property Oversight

• Serving as the point of contact for contractors, landscapers, and service providers
• Researching and coordinating repairs, quotes, and seasonal maintenance
• Occasional coordination with the property manager for a nearby rental property

Administrative & Personal Assistant Support

• Household calendar management, including proactive visibility into upcoming kids' activities, school events, and scheduling needs
• Consolidating family accounts and subscriptions onto a shared household email and calendar
• Travel planning support
• Create and maintaining a shared project list and proactively surfacing decisions, costs, and blockers
