Soldering Technician

The Soldering Technician assembles electrical components using lead-free soldering techniques in a fast-paced, high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment, in a climatized warehouse setting in NW Houston area. This role focuses on building wires, harnesses, terminals, and circuit boards to high quality standards while following daily checklists and detailed build sheets. You will work independently, adapt to changing production needs, and contribute to the production of premium pinball machines sold worldwide.

Responsibilities

• Assemble electrical components including wires, wire harnesses, terminals, and circuit boards using lead-free soldering techniques.
• Perform RoHS-compliant, lead-free soldering on high-reliability assemblies to ensure durable, defect-free connections.
• Use crimping tools to prepare and assemble electrical wire harnesses and terminations.
• Follow detailed build sheets, production checklists, and task lists to complete daily assignments accurately and on time.
• Inspect solder joints, harnesses, and assemblies for quality, precision, and consistency, ensuring defect-free work.
• Work independently in a high-mix, low-volume production environment where tasks and products vary from day to day.
• Use hand tools safely and effectively to assemble, adjust, and secure electrical components.
• Maintain a strong focus on quality, repeatability, and adherence to manufacturing standards, including IPC guidelines where applicable.
• Support increased production demand by adapting to varying workloads and assisting with overtime when needed.
• Uphold a strong work ethic by being accountable, coachable, and consistently punctual, with no tolerance for repeated tardiness or no-shows.
• Stand for most of the shift while performing assembly and inspection tasks in a clean, organized facility.
• Collaborate with a supportive team and leadership to meet production goals and continuously improve processes.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in lead-free soldering, including RoHS-compliant, Pb-free alloys for high-reliability assemblies.
• Skilled in soldering wires, terminals, harnesses, and circuit boards with a focus on precision and quality.
• Experience with crimping tools for electrical wire harness assembly.
• Ability to work independently from detailed build sheets, production checklists, and task lists.
• Strong attention to quality, consistency, and defect-free solder joints.
• Experience in electronics assembly or wire harness production.
• Comfort using hand tools in a manufacturing or assembly environment.
• Strong work ethic, accountability, and coachability.
• Reliable timeliness and attendance, with the ability to meet strict punctuality expectations.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• IPC certification preferred but not required.
• Previous experience in electrical wire harness production or related electronics manufacturing.
• Experience with quality inspection of soldered joints and assembled harnesses.
• Familiarity with high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environments.
• Previous experience working on pinball machines is beneficial but not required and not a deciding factor.

Work Environment

This role is based in a clean, organized, fully climate-controlled manufacturing facility. You will work in a high-mix, low-volume production environment where tasks and products vary daily, offering variety rather than repetitive assembly line work. The position requires standing for most of the shift and working independently from task lists and checklists. The standard schedule is a four-day workweek with 10-hour shifts from 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., including two 15-minute breaks and a lunch break. You are typically off Friday through Sunday, and overtime may be available based on production needs. The environment emphasizes safety, quality, and efficient use of hand tools and soldering equipment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Houston, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $21.00/hr.
