What You'll Do

As a Correctional Dental Assistant, you'll assist the dentist in providing routine and emergency dental care within a CDOC clinical setting.

Responsibilities may include:

• Provide chairside assistance during general dentistry procedures
• Prepare treatment areas, instruments, and materials for dental procedures
• Obtain digital dental X-rays
• Set up and assist with restorative procedures
• Select and pass instruments during treatment
• Sterilize dental instruments and equipment
• Maintain proper infection-control practices
• Follow radiation safety and exposure-control procedures
• Properly handle and dispose of biohazardous and medically contaminated waste
• Assist with dental clinic scheduling and daily operations
• Maintain appropriate tool, chemical, and supply controls
• Educate patients on preventive dental care and oral health
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation
• Work collaboratively with the dentist and CDOC healthcare team
