PRN Speech Therapist - Inpatient Rehab

Job Summary Administers speech and language evaluations, tests, and examinations to diagnose and plan treatments for clients, patients, and residents with various speech problems and swallowing disorders. Assesses individuals with speech, language, cognitive, or swallowing difficulties and develops individualized treatment plans based on clinical diagnoses. Provides speech and language services, monitors disease progression, and adjusts treatments accordingly. Instructs clients in practicing therapeutic exercises and provides consultation throughout their treatment processes. Ensures all speech and language related standards, policies, protocols, and quality requirements are met. Key Responsibilities Interpret speech and language evaluations and use the results to formulate appropriate treatment plans. Administer assessments for speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing disorders in individuals of all ages. Monitor disease progression and modify treatment plans as needed. Instruct clients in exercises to practice speech and language therapeutic techniques. Provide consultation to clients working through treatment processes. Document services in accordance with departmental guidelines and regulatory requirements. Follow accepted clinical practice guidelines and professional organization standards. Demonstrate flexibility with variable work schedules and assignments. Participate in departmental, Good Samaritan Society, and Sanford Health promotion activities. Interact with providers, case managers, third‑party payers, and public organizations. May supervise assistants, aides, and students while ensuring quality care. Offer ongoing education and training to peers as directed by department leadership. Perform other related duties as requested by the manager. Focus on post‑acute, long‑term care, and home health care environments when applicable. Qualifications Appropriate education level in accordance with state licensure. Licensed as a Speech‑Language Pathologist in the state(s) of practice. Preferred: Certificate of Clinical Competence issued by the American Speech‑Language Hearing Association (ASHA) or currently pursuing a Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY). When working at a Sanford Health Facility, this is preferred. Valid driver’s license may be required. Maintain required department‑specific competencies and certifications. Basic Life Support (BLS) for health care providers required within the first 60 days of employment.
