Schedule Evenings with rotating weekends Job Description The Laboratory Technologist (MLT or MT) works under the supervision of the Laboratory Manager and is responsible for performing laboratory tests and accurately reporting results to the physician for use in the diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of diseases. The technologist assists in the general operation of the laboratory, participates in quality assurance programs, and maintains laboratory equipment. Independent judgment, professional education, and National certification (AMT or ASCP) are required. After successful completion of the probation period, the Laboratory Technologist will act as a general supervisor for waived, moderate, and high complexity testing. ResponsibilitiesPerforms complex tests in all laboratory areas assigned, including hematology, immunology, and routine chemistry according to established protocols. Conducts phlebotomies, including arterial puncture and capillary punctures, applying age-specific criteria as appropriate. Processes specimens utilizing technical knowledge and established protocols. Calibrates, standardizes, and maintains laboratory instruments as per established procedures. Performs quality control and preventive maintenance to ensure proper functioning of instruments. Validates and reports results of tests accurately and timely. Assists in the maintenance and development of laboratory policy manuals. Provides orientation and teaching to students and new employees. Researches and develops new procedures as assigned. Adheres to safety practices, including biohazard protocols and infection control standards. Promotes effective working relationships to facilitate departmental goals. Attends mandatory in-service education as required. Demonstrates respect for the dignity of all patients, families, and colleagues. Maintains reliable attendance and punctuality. Required Experience / Certifications / LicensureAssociate's or Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Medical Technology or related field. Certification/registration or eligibility as a Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Technician is required. Knowledge of medical technology principles, methods, and techniques.
