Responsibilities include but are not limited to; ensuring OSHA compliance; assisting in the administration of Workers Compensation and drug testing; assisting in the administration of industrial hygiene and ergonomics programs; maintaining and analyzing safety/health/incident data; assist with overseeing contractor safety programs and security; develop and update policies and procedures, conduct and document incident investigations, safety inspections/audits, develop action plans and follow up, and conduct safety training and participate in emergency response teams. About 30% of this role will focus on conducting safety training such as crane, mobile equipment, fall protection, etc. and maintaining safety training records for the Division. This position requires willingness to spend time on the floor to obtain an understanding of operations for their area to be a safety resource to the team. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.Minimum Qualifications:A degree in a safety and health related field or a combination of equivalent education and work experience Proficiency with standard workplace technology, including the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and other digital tools used to plan, track, and deliver training. Willingness to obtain Train-the-Trainer certification, provided through Nucor, for delivering safety training Preferred Qualifications:OSHA VPP Experience Experience in working with a Safety Management System Industrial Hygiene/Occupational Health experience Prior safety experience in a steel manufacturing environment Nucor is an Equal Opportunity Employer and a drug-free workplace
