Testing Operator

Position Summary

We are seeking a knowledgeable Testing Operator to be responsible for running, monitoring, and verifying automated test sequences for servers and associated systems. This hands-on role focuses on detecting, diagnosing, and responding to test failures, maintaining accurate test logs and status updates, and working with test engineering, firmware, and hardware teams to resolve issues. Experience in a data-center-style environment and the ability to read and understand simple scripts (Bash, Python, PowerShell, etc.) are strong advantages.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute daily test plans and automated test runs for server hardware, firmware, and basic software validation.
• Continuously monitor test dashboards, logs, and alerts; identify, triage, and respond to failures in real time to minimize test rework and test throughput impact.
• Troubleshoot common server test failures and perform basic corrective actions.
• Read and interpret test scripts and logs.
• Maintain accurate test records and update test case documentation or checklists as directed.
• Ensure test environment readiness — validate network connectivity, power stability, liquid cooling flow, and test tooling before runs.
• Participate in shift handovers, lab housekeeping (5S), safety procedures, and continuous improvement activities to increase test reliability and throughput.
• Maintain test hardware and work with engineering departments to ensure server racks and tooling are properly maintained.

 

Qualifications

• High school level or equivalent, associate degree or technical certificate in IT, computer hardware, electronics, or similar is preferred.
• 1+ year experience in a data center, server test lab, or hardware test role or an equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience preferred.
• Ability to read and understand basic scripts (Bash, Python, PowerShell) and command-line output; no requirement to be a developer but able to follow and run test scripts.
• Experience with remote management tools and basic networking a plus.
• Strong troubleshooting skills, methodical log collection, and the ability to follow written procedures.
• Good written and verbal communication to document failures and interact with engineering and operations teams.
• Experience with automated test frameworks and test orchestration tools a strong plus.
• Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Server+, or vendor-specific data center certifications preferred.

Working Conditions

• Work is primarily performed in a manufacturing production setting.
• Exposure to intense noise levels, machinery, and tools requiring regular use of PPE.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. for extended periods.
• Must be able to stand, bend, and move for extended periods.
