Pet Friendly Caregivers
Helping Hearts USA LLC
Job Description
Job Description:\n\nAnimal Friendly In Home CaregiverCaregiver Opportunity in Animal Friendly Client Homes Company: Helping Hearts USA LLC Employment Options: Full-time, part-time and PRN Available Shifts: Days, evenings, nights, overnights, weekdays and weekends Typical Shift Lengths: 4 to 12 hours, depending on client needs About This Caregiver Opportunity Do you have a heart for helping people and feel comfortable walking into a home where a friendly dog, a curious cat or even a few farm animals may be nearby? If so, there may be a special place for you on the Helping Hearts team! At Helping Hearts USA LLC, we believe exceptional care begins with genuine connection. Our clients deserve to feel safe, respected, comfortable and truly cared for in the homes they love - often alongside the pets and animals they consider part of their family. We are growing and excited to welcome experienced, dependable and compassionate in-home caregivers who are confident working in animal-friendly environments. Some clients have one household pet, while others may have several animals, including large or small dogs, cats, birds, fish, reptiles, caged pets ect. Animals may be indoors, outdoors or moving throughout the client's living environment. This is a wonderful opportunity for caregivers who enjoy bringing comfort and companionship to others, take pride in providing dependable care and can remain calm, professional and focused in a variety of home environments. Every visit is an opportunity to brighten someone's day, protect their independence and give their family greater peace of mind. Applicants should be prepared for normal conditions associated with animals, which may include barking, animal hair, shedding, pet odors, movement around the home and multiple animals being present at the same time. The client is always the caregiver's primary responsibility. This is a caregiving position - not a pet-sitting or animal-care position. Any responsibility involving an animal must be specifically approved by the office and included in the client's care plan or assignment instructions. If caregiving is more than a job to you, and you value compassion, dignity, safety, dependability and clear communication, we would be delighted to learn more about you. Come bring your experience, warmth and heart to Helping Hearts - and help make home an even better place for the clients we serve. Comfort around animals does not require a caregiver to enter or remain in a situation that presents an immediate safety risk. Caregivers must contact the office promptly when an animal, property condition or environmental hazard prevents safe care. Applicants must honestly disclose any animal allergies, fears or restrictions, including the types and sizes of animals they can or cannot safely work around. This information allows Helping Hearts to make appropriate client-caregiver matches. Reasonable accommodations will be considered in accordance with applicable law. What You Will Do Assignments are based on each client's approved care plan. Responsibilities may include: Companionship and Daily Support • Provide meaningful conversation, reassurance and social engagement. • Support the client's preferred routines and appropriate independence. • Provide safety observation and supervision. • Participate in approved activities. • Prepare meals and snacks according to client instructions. • Encourage hydration and document food or fluid intake when required. • Complete light housekeeping in the client's approved service area. • Wash dishes, complete laundry, change linens and remove trash. • Organize client supplies and keep walkways clear. • Complete approved errands or transportation responsibilities. Personal Care and Activities of Daily Living • Assist with bathing, showering, sponge baths or bed baths. • Assist with dressing, grooming, oral care and personal hygiene. • Provide toileting, incontinence and perineal care. • Assist with meals or feeding when required. • Assist with walking, mobility and approved adaptive equipment. • Reposition clients according to the care plan. • Maintain the client's dignity, privacy, comfort and independence. Dementia and Memory Care Support • Provide calm, consistent and attentive supervision. • Follow established routines and client-specific communication strategies. • Offer appropriate reassurance and redirection. • Monitor for confusion, wandering, agitation or behavioral changes. • Maintain awareness of the client's location and safety throughout the shift. • Immediately report significant changes in cognition, mood or behavior. Mobility Transfers and Higher Assistance Care • Assist with walking, balance, walkers and wheelchairs. • Support bed mobility and repositioning. • Complete approved one-person transfers. • Follow all two-person-assist requirements. • Use an approved gait belt, mechanical lift or Hoyer lift only when trained, authorized and directed by the care plan. • Check equipment before use and follow all fall-prevention procedures. • Request assistance whenever care cannot be completed safely. Caregivers must never attempt an unsafe transfer or use equipment they have not been trained and authorized to operate. Non Medical Health Support • Provide medication reminders within the approved non-medical care plan. • Support the client's use of an approved prefilled medication planner or original medication container as directed. • Assist with approved blood-glucose monitoring and documentation when assigned. • Observe the client's physical, emotional and behavioral condition. • Report pain, swelling, bruising, redness, skin concerns, falls, injuries or changes in mobility. • Follow established emergency procedures. • Report concerns promptly rather than attempting to diagnose or treat them. Documentation and Communication Standards Caregivers are expected to: • Maintain reliable access to a working smartphone. • Review the full care plan and assignment instructions before providing care. • Confirm scheduled shifts according to company procedures. • Respond promptly to office calls, texts and scheduling messages. • Clock in and out from the approved client location. • Document services, observations and concerns accurately and in real time through the company's electronic care platform. • Complete every required care-plan task or document why a task could not be completed. • Immediately report changes in condition, incidents, injuries, hazards and safety concerns. • Maintain client confidentiality and professional boundaries. • Direct scheduling, service, family and care-plan concerns to the office. Caregivers must never mark a task complete when it was not performed or assume that another person has already reported a concern. Attendance and Shift Expectations Dependability is essential because clients and families rely on scheduled care. Caregivers must: • Arrive on time, in uniform and fully prepared for every accepted shift. • Complete the entire scheduled shift. • Follow all call-off and attendance procedures. • Notify the office immediately if an emergency affects attendance. • Never leave a client early or unattended without office authorization. • Remain until properly relieved when continuous care is required. • Contact the office if a client or family requests a schedule change. • Remain awake, alert and attentive throughout all night and overnight shifts. Sleeping, napping, dozing or lying down to rest during a shift is prohibited. Failure to report for an accepted assignment, abandoning a client or disregarding safety requirements may result in removal from the assignment or additional corrective action. Client Environments Care may be provided in private homes, independent-living communities, assisted-living communities, memory-care communities, senior-living facilities and other approved settings. In addition to animals, applicants should understand that: • Some clients require a caregiver who does not smoke or vape. • Some client homes may not be completely smoke-free. • Applicants must disclose sensitivities to smoke, vaping, fragrances, cleaning products or other environmental conditions that could affect assignment safety. • Family members, facility staff or other approved individuals may be present. • Approved safety cameras or monitoring equipment may be present. • Caregivers may not move, unplug, cover or interfere with safety equipment. • Parking, stairs, terrain and entry conditions vary by assignment. • Caregivers must respect every client's home, property, privacy and personal preferences. Required Qualifications Applicants must: • Be at least 18 years old. • Have a high school diploma, GED or equivalent. • Have at least one year of professional caregiving, personal-care, home-care or closely related experience. • Demonstrate compassion, patience, sound judgment and professionalism. • Be dependable, punctual and able to follow written care plans and office instructions. • Be comfortable providing hands-on personal care. • Communicate clearly and respectfully with clients, families, office staff and approved facility personnel. • Safely perform the essential responsibilities of accepted assignments, with or without reasonable accommodation. • Complete required orientation, training and assignment-specific instruction. • Maintain confidentiality and appropriate professional boundaries. • Pass required background, registry, reference and employment-verification screenings. Experience with dementia care, incontinence care, bedbound clients, gait belts, two-person assists, Hoyer lifts or other higher-assistance care is strongly valued. Caregivers will only be assigned duties appropriate to their verified experience, completed training and authorization. Transportation Requirements Applicants must have: • A valid driver's license. • Current automobile insurance. • Reliable personal transportation. • An acceptable driving record. • The ability to travel independently to assigned client locations. • The ability to transport clients when required, approved and properly matched to the assignment. Physical Requirements Depending on the accepted assignment, caregivers may need to stand, walk or sit for extended periods; bend, reach, turn, kneel or squat; use stairs; assist with mobility or repositioning; maneuver a wheelchair; complete approved transfers; handle groceries, laundry and care supplies; wear required personal protective equipment; and respond promptly during emergencies. Applicants must review assignment requirements and honestly disclose any limitation that could prevent safe completion of the care plan. Reasonable accommodations will be considered in accordance with applicable law. Professional Appearance The required caregiver uniform includes: • Solid navy-blue scrubs. • Closed-toe and closed-heel shoes. • Clean, safe and professional grooming. • Hair secured when necessary for safety. • No strong fragrances. • Required personal protective equipment when applicable. Schedules and Assignment Matching Available schedules may include morning, daytime, evening, night, overnight, weekday, weekend, recurring, temporary and PRN assignments. Shift lengths are generally 4 to 12 hours. Assignments are matched according to current client needs, location, care level, schedule, caregiver experience, verified skills, availability, transportation, environmental compatibility and client preferences. Applicants must provide complete and accurate availability. Employment status does not guarantee a specific client, schedule or number of weekly hours. Once a caregiver accepts an assignment, consistent attendance and completion of the scheduled hours are required. Why Join Helping Hearts • Full-time, part-time and PRN opportunities. • Day, evening, night and overnight assignments. • A variety of client-care levels and service locations. • Thoughtful assignment matching based on skills, availability and environmental compatibility. • Orientation, assignment-specific guidance and ongoing training. • A supportive, team-focused work environment. • Opportunities to build meaningful client relationships. • The chance to protect a client's independence, dignity and quality of life.
