Job Description

This temporary CNC Mill Machinist role focuses on setting up and operating CNC milling machines in a job shop environment and performing precise inspections using micrometers, calipers, and gauges. You will contribute to a specific project over a defined period, producing components for a variety of industries while maintaining high standards of accuracy, quality, and safety.

Responsibilities

• Set up CNC mills for production, including selecting and installing tooling, loading programs, and verifying proper machine operation.

• Operate CNC milling machines to produce parts according to blueprints, work instructions, and quality specifications.

• Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings to determine machining requirements, tolerances, and inspection criteria.

• Perform detailed inspections of machined parts using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other precision measuring instruments.

• Monitor machining processes and make necessary adjustments to tooling, offsets, and programs to ensure parts meet quality standards.

• Maintain close attention to detail and consistently produce high-quality parts within specified tolerances.

• Handle and move materials and parts, including lifting up to 50 pounds multiple times during a 10-hour shift.

• Work safely around CNC equipment and shop tools, following established safety procedures and guidelines.

• Collaborate with team members and supervisors to resolve machining and quality issues and support project goals.

• Maintain a clean and organized work area, including proper care and storage of tools, equipment, and measuring instruments.

Essential Skills

• 3+ years of CNC mill setup and operation experience, preferably in a job shop environment rather than high-volume production.

• 3+ years of experience reading and interpreting blueprints.

• 3+ years of experience performing inspections with micrometers, calipers, and gauges.

• Proficiency with CNC machining and CNC mills, including setup and tooling.

• Ability to use precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges accurately.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds multiple times during a 10-hour shift.

• Demonstrated machining history of approximately 3 years or more.

• Capability to work 10-hour shifts, maintaining focus and productivity throughout.

• Set-up experience as a must-have requirement for this role.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working in a machine shop environment.

• Familiarity with CNC lathes and other CNC machining equipment.

• Exposure to Haas CNC machines and related controls.

• Basic CNC programming experience or the ability to make minor program adjustments.

• Experience using SolidWorks or similar CAD software for understanding part models and features.

• Knowledge of tooling selection and optimization for CNC milling operations.

• Experience in machining parts for industries such as medical devices, surgical instruments, diesel, automotive, or agricultural applications.

Work Environment

The role is based in a job shop setting that produces parts for multiple industries, including medical device, surgical instruments, diesel, automotive, and agricultural sectors. There is one opening on first shift, working Monday through Thursday from 5:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., for a total of four 10-hour shifts each week, with optional work available on Fridays depending on project needs. The facility operates with approximately 50 employees and uses modern CNC equipment, with most turning and milling machines being Mor Seiki and similar platforms. The environment is hands-on and fast-paced, requiring frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds and consistent attention to safety and quality while working around CNC machinery and precision tools.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Kenosha, WI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $30.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
