Job Details: Mon-Fri 4:00 pm to 12:30 a.m.

Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated and energetic Medical Laboratory Technologist (MT). The MT is responsible for performing routine and complex laboratory testing on a variety of specimens with speed, precision, and understanding of the theory behind tests. The successful applicant must be able to produce accurate results under time constraints while working in a fast-paced environment.

 

Responsibilities

· Perform testing within Hematology, Chemistry, Urinalysis, and Blood Banking

· Assure quality results through use of evaluation of control material.

· Perform routine function checks and maintenance on laboratory analyzers.

· Recognize critical results and correctly document notification of appropriate personnel.

· Exhibit efficient use of time and resources.

· Meet TAT and pending list review expectations.

· Maximize productivity and efficiency.

· Assist in inventory management.

· Document corrective actions of system deviations from laboratory specification.

· Maintain Compliance with all regulatory agency requirements.

· Perform special projects such as evaluation of new reagents, procedures, tests, or other duties as assigned.

 

Skills

· Demonstrated analytic ability to perform highly complex testing as defined by CLIA 88

· Ability to interpret findings, perform calculations, calibrate instruments.

· Use of manual and visual dexterity necessary to prepare specimens, solutions, screen specimens.

· Demonstrated ability to operate LIS computer system and clinical instrumentation. such as Roche Chemistry Analyzers, Sysmex, Clinitek, Ortho Vision.

· Must be able to work with arms above shoulder level.

· Must be able to visually distinguish color.

· Must be able to work around machinery with moving parts and laser (barcode scanners).

· Ability to stand for long periods of time.

· Ability to learn several aspects of laboratory operation from startup, testing, LIS, QC, shutdown.

· Must have neat and orderly work habits.

· Operate with an appropriate level of professionalism.

· Must be able to troubleshoot instrument problems with ability to perform repairs with technical support guidance.

· Must be familiar with blood bank gel card system.

· Ability to perform manual differentials including identification of immature cells.

· Ability to perform manual review of urinalysis and identify cellular elements.

· Ability to communicate both verbally and written with professionals across all levels of organization.

 

Requirements

· Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology, Chemical, Biological or Physical Science

· Successful completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technologist program

· ASCP or AMT certification required.
