About the Position

Job Title: Cardiac Surgical Technologist Profession: Surgical Tech Specialty: Surgical Tech Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 3x12.0 Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Two years recent experience in a cardiac operating room License: Required Certifications: - NBSTSA Certification or 10 years of experience as a Surgical Technician - BLS Certification (American Heart Association ONLY) Must-Have: - Two years recent experience in a cardiac operation room - Able to scrub and circulate Description: The Adult Cardiac Operating Room cares for a wide variety of patients. This includes CABGs, TAVIs, and heart failure treatments such as VADs, ECMO, artificial hearts, and heart transplants. Using a multidisciplinary approach, the operating room staff cares for patients of all ages. The Surgical Technologist will provide technical knowledge in preparing instruments, equipment, and supplies for surgical procedures. They assist the surgical team from the scrub position during operations. Responsibilities include the proper care and handling of instruments and facilitating room turnover between cases. Maintaining sterile technique, safe handling of sharps, and the performance of surgical counts as per hospital policy is essential. Proper handling of solutions and pharmacologic agents under the direction of a registered nurse is also required. Candidates must have two years of recent experience in a cardiac operating room.
