About the Role

The Company is seeking a VP, Academic Partnerships to lead the expansion and management of its strategic alliances with top-tier academic institutions in the US. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving the identification and evaluation of therapeutic projects, as well as advancing relationships with leading academic and industry partners. This role requires a PhD or MD degree, with a minimum of 12 years of experience in basic research and/or drug discovery, and a proven track record in the discovery of first-in-class or best-in-class therapeutics, particularly in the metabolic disease area. The VP will work closely with internal scientific and drug discovery teams to shape development plans, facilitate project onboarding, and ensure the successful translation of early concepts into therapeutic candidates for human testing. The ideal candidate for the VP, Academic Partnerships role at the company will have a strong background in academic and industry collaborations, with experience in technology transfer and a deep understanding of drug discovery and early development processes. They should possess excellent communication and presentation skills, be adept at engaging with both scientific and business audiences, and have a general understanding of intellectual property rights. The role demands a highly motivated individual with outstanding scientific curiosity, the ability to manage and grow external partnerships, and a competitive, well-documented track record in the field.
