Summary: The Product Assembler is a skilled manufacturing position responsible for assembling pedestal booms, hydraulic power units, and other company products according to engineering specifications, drawings, work instructions, and quality standards. This position requires a strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to independently perform complex assembly operations. This position consistently works within tight deadlines, requiring extreme motivation and high work ethic.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assemble pedestal booms and hydraulic power units according to engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials, and established work instructions.
- Perform mechanical and hydraulic assembly, including installation and connection of components, fittings, hoses, cylinders, motors, pumps, valves, and related hardware.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, assembly drawings, schematics, bills of materials, and work instructions.
- Properly identify and select components, hardware, tools, and materials required for each assembly.
- Use a variety of hand tools, power tools, measuring equipment, and assembly equipment safely and effectively.
- Perform precision assembly and adjustments to ensure proper fit, alignment, operation, and overall product quality.
- Inspect components at various stages of assembly as well as the final inspection of the completed product
- Identify assembly problems, determine potential causes, and make appropriate adjustments or corrections.
- Perform functional testing of completed assemblies and assist with troubleshooting as needed.
- Follow established procedures for torque specifications, hydraulic connections, component installation, and other critical assembly requirements.
- Maintain accurate production and quality records as required.
- Identify and communicate material, component, drawing, or assembly issues to the appropriate supervisor or engineering personnel.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and applicable OSHA requirements.
- Work collaboratively with other members of the manufacturing, engineering, quality, and production teams.
- Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities to improve assembly processes, quality, efficiency, and safety.
- Assist with the assembly of other products and perform other manufacturing duties as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned.

Experience and Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- One (1) year of related experience and/or training; background in engine repair helpful.
- Mechanical background required; heavy equipment mechanic background preferred.
- Experience using measuring tools such as micrometers and calipers.
- Basic trouble shooting hydraulic and electrical knowledge; MIG welding background preferred but not necessary.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, blueprints, procedures, etc.
- Basic computer knowledge
Physical Demands:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand. The individual needs to frequently move about on the shop floor and across campus buildings. They must be able to exchange accurate information with other individuals in the office and shop.
- They often transport parts and handle heavy tools, equipment, and other necessary items. They use their hands continuously while performing all job duties. Most of the activities involve fine and gross manipulation of items. Employees must regularly lift, push, pull, and/or move up to 50 pounds. Anything over 50 pounds will be moved with a forklift or overhead crane. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
- Individuals are required to wear personal protective equipment as situations dictate on various jobs. Safety glasses and steel toe boots are always required on the shop floor.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to welding arc light source, oxy-fuel torches and other power tools. The employee will be in a well-lit, heated indoor shop environment with adequate ventilation. The employee will occasionally be outside when moving between buildings.
- The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles.
