Federal College Work Study: OSE- Desk Assistant

Job Overview Desk Assistants for the Office of Student Engagement are friendly faces that welcome and assist guests of the Student Engagement Suite. They create a warm and inviting atmosphere and provide information about events, programs, and resources offered by the office. Location: Commerce, Texas. Position type: Student Worker (Work‑Study only). Key Responsibilities Deliver the highest level of customer service to visitors. Answer the telephone and provide information to visitors. Assist department staff with projects. Complete campus errands for department staff. Distribute incoming mail and packages; ensure outgoing mail is picked up. Complete university‑assigned training within a week of assignment. Abide by department policies regarding duties, attendance, and dress code. Fulfill other duties as assigned. Expectations & Outcomes Regularly communicate and attend meetings with the Office of Student Engagement staff. Serve as a positive role model for students. Abide by professional standards and ethics. Develop credible, working relationships with a variety of stakeholders. Be flexible, open‑minded, and maintain a positive attitude. Compensation and Work Hours This is a 9‑month, 19‑hour‑per‑week Work‑Study position scheduled between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Starting pay is $10 per hour and is paid bi‑weekly. Requirements & Qualifications Full‑time work‑study approved student at East Texas A&M University. Minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA and semester GPA, in good standing with the university. Positive attitude, excellent customer service, punctuality, dedication. Good verbal and written communication skills and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and TEAMS.
