Notre Dame High School is seeking a knowledgeable, passionate, and student-centered Strength and Conditioning Coach to design and implement performance training programs for student-athletes across all sports. The ideal candidate will be committed to the physical development, long-term health, and athletic performance of Notre Dame's student-athletes while embracing the school's Mercy Core Values. Position Overview The Strength and Conditioning Coach reports to the Athletic Director and works collaboratively with head coaches, the athletic trainer, and school administration. This individual is responsible for developing and overseeing comprehensive strength, speed, agility, and conditioning programs to maximize athlete performance and minimize injury risk across all sports programs. Key Responsibilities Program Design & Implementation Design, implement, and oversee sport-specific and general strength and conditioning programs for all athletic teams Develop periodized annual training plans aligned with sport seasons, including off-season, pre-season, in-season, and post-season phases Conduct individual athlete assessments to identify strengths, weaknesses, and development opportunities Instruct athletes in proper lifting mechanics, movement patterns, and training techniques with emphasis on safety Collaborate with head coaches to align conditioning programs with team-specific performance goals Facility Management Oversee the day-to-day operation, cleanliness, and safety of the weight room and training facilities Maintain and inspect all strength and conditioning equipment; coordinate repairs and replacements as needed Enforce weight room policies and procedures, ensuring a safe and disciplined training environment Maintain training logs, athlete performance data, and program documentation Athlete Health & Injury Prevention Work closely with the certified athletic trainer to develop injury prevention and return-to-play programs Educate student-athletes on nutrition, recovery, hydration, and sleep as components of athletic performance Monitor athlete workload and fatigue to prevent overtraining and reduce injury risk Promote a culture of holistic wellness consistent with Notre Dame's commitment to the whole student Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Sports Science, or a closely related field Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the NSCA, or equivalent certification (SCCC, USAW, etc.) Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification Minimum 2 years of experience coaching strength and conditioning at the high school, collegiate, or professional level Ability to work early mornings, after school, evenings, and weekends as athletic schedules require Preferred Master's degree in a related field Experience working with multi-sport high school athletic programs Knowledge of and alignment with the Mercy Core Values Benefits Robust medical and dental insurance, vision insurance, flex spending account, 403b matching retirement plan, supplemental insurances including voluntary life, hospital insurance, wellness benefit, critical illness, additional life insurance and short-term disability coverage, financial support for graduate study, employee assistance program, Mercer County NJ teachers federal credit union, tuition reduction for faculty/staff children who attend ND High School, among others.
