Head of Special Situations Research (New York)

A well-established institutional research platform is looking to bring on a senior investor to lead its Special Situations effort. This is a highly visible role overseeing idea generation, publication, and direction of the research product, with direct engagement across a sophisticated institutional client base.

What you'll do:

Lead coverage across event-driven opportunities (spin-offs, M&A, restructurings, post-reorg equities, recapitalizations)
Drive idea generation, deep fundamental analysis, and publication of institutional-quality reports
Oversee and mentor junior analysts while shaping overall research direction
Conduct primary research (management teams, industry calls, channel checks) and leverage modern/AI-enabled tools
Present investment theses to hedge funds, asset managers, and other institutional investors

Background:

~10+ years in special sits / event-driven / value-oriented equity research
Strong track record of publishing differentiated, high-quality research
Deep understanding of corporate actions and capital structure dynamics
Experience interacting with institutional clients; leadership experience a plus

Senior, high-impact seat with strong growth potential and competitive comp.
