Description General Description:
The purpose of this job within the organization is to maintain and repair heating, ventilation, and air condition (HVAC) systems and oversee contractors. This job works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences. Duties and Responsibilities:
The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this job. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the job as necessary.

Repairs HVAC equipment.
Responds to emergency and non-emergency calls 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Inspects, tests, calibrates, troubleshoots, repairs, maintains and services HVAC systems and equipment.
Supervises and assigns work orders occasionally.
Meets with contractors to bid jobs or repairs and oversees contractors work.
Meets with engineers and architecture on design and problems with HVAC renovations.
Additional Duties :
Inspects the work of staff and contractors for accuracy, proper work methods, techniques and compliance with standards and specifications. Manages routine, emergency, and preventive maintenance activities. Monitors the efficiency of HVAC systems, and recommends systems improvements or modifications. Performs related work as assigned. Qualifications Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent supplemented by specialized courses/training equivalent to completion of one year of college in completion of an HVAC vocational/technical program; five years of journey-level experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. Requires three years' experience as a Journeyman HVAC technician; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Preferred candidates will have ten years of direct experience. Special Certifications and Licenses:
Valid Driver's License.
Must possess current CFC certification, and a Journeyman HVAC certification issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia.
