Electrical Engineer

This is a contract Electrical Engineer role based on-site in Pasadena, CA.

Technical Responsibilities:

• Design PCB's and electrical hardware from the ground up
• Identify existing short-comings to improve on current designs
• Strike a balance between creating novel designs and using commercial off-the-shelf parts to meet design, budget, and reliability requirements
• Collaborate with software, hardware, and production team to better integrate, optimize, and iterate on electrical systems
• Create detailed documentation for designs and processes
• Maintain a safe work environment by following industry standards and best practices

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or related field from an accredited university.
• 2+ years of proven experience in electrical / electro-mechanical design and development (internships/clubs/projects considered)
• PCB Design experience is required (4+ layer stack up, mixed signals, motor control, sensor integration)
• Switching DC-DC regulators (buck or boost converters)
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Excellent communication and project management skills
• Ability to succeed in a fast paced environment.
• Proficiency with PCB design tools + PCB layout (KiCad, Altium, Eagle, etc.).
• Familiarity with Embedded systems.
• Experience with sensors, motor control systems, and electrical wiring.
• Experience with schematic capture and support documentation.
• Experience or familiarity with NEC and electrical standards.
• Experience with high and low voltage wiring and drafting standards.
• Experience with Electrical systems, working with PLC's, Robotics, and general electrical fundamentals.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of electromechanical components (motors/actuators, basic circuitry)
• PCB validation and verification
• Wiring harness design experience
• Experience with parts selection and procurement, establishing relationships with suppliers
• Experience in a small-team setting that requires strong initiative
• Knowledge of any programming language (C++, Python, Java, etc.)
• Experience with high voltage and low voltage practices
• Projects or experiences that utilize both Electrical and Mechanical design/implementation
