Position Overview

The role involves conducting both routine and advanced imaging examinations in Diagnostic Radiology, addressing both scheduled and urgent cases while adhering to departmental Quality Control and Exam Data Integrity standards. This position also includes training clinical personnel, mentoring junior staff, and fulfilling operational tasks as directed by management.

• Imaging Procedures
  • Conducts advanced imaging examinations while ensuring a safe environment for patients.
  • Reviews and assesses requisitions for diagnostic imaging, extracting necessary information from patient records to determine the suitability of prescribed procedures based on diagnoses and clinical indicators for routine exams.
  • Identifies patients in accordance with hospital policy using two identifiers.
  • Selects the appropriate equipment and technical parameters to visualize both pathological and normal anatomy.
  • Evaluates the physical and emotional condition of patients and their guardians, developing tailored care plans to meet specific needs.
  • Explains the examination process and addresses any questions from patients and their families regarding the procedure and radiation exposure, adhering to ALARA principles.
  • Adheres to departmental Quality Control and Data Integrity workflows.
  • Engages in High Reliability Training practices.
• Patient and Family Interaction
  • Responds to the individual needs of patients, fostering a supportive atmosphere for both patients and their families.
• Equipment Management
  • Identifies and reports any equipment issues using the INeedit application.
• Operational Support
  • Assists in the organization and maintenance of daily operations.
  • Completes additional tasks as assigned by the Modality Manager, Chief Technologist, or Assistant Chief Technologist, such as ordering supplies, participating in QA/QC projects, and managing lead inventory.
• Leadership
  • Contributes to new departmental and hospital initiatives.
  • Encourages a positive work environment, teamwork, and a commitment to making meaningful contributions.
• Training and Mentorship
  • Provides training to fellows, residents, students, and staff on imaging procedures and techniques.
  • Serves as a mentor for less experienced personnel.
• General Duties
  • Participates in departmental and hospital meetings.
  • Completes all necessary documentation accurately and promptly.
  • Adheres to ETU guidelines.
  • Complies with HIPAA regulations.

• Professional Growth
  • Pursues ongoing professional education and stays informed about current regulations, standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Keeps licensure, certification, and registration up to date in departmental records.

• Education: Associate's degree in Allied Health; Bachelor's degree preferred.

• Minimum of 3 years in Diagnostic Radiology.

• Current MA Radiologic Technologist license.
• Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
• BLS Certification.
