J54 is one of seven Cardiovascular Intensive Care Units that specializes in heart and lung transplants, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), LVAD, Impella, coronary artery bypass surgery, and valve repair or replacement. All post‑operative patients come directly from the operating room and are recovered, stabilized, weaned and extubated in these units. The units accept complex patients from other facilities that may have had surgical complications or those needing further evaluation for patients that other facilities may not have considered surgical candidates. The patient population is diverse with complex medical problems that may require IABP therapy and/or CRRT. Job Schedule A caregiver in this position works day/night rotation, from 7:00 am—7:30 pm and 7:00 pm—7:30 am. A caregiver who excels in this role will: Provide direct nursing care. Implement, monitor, evaluate, update and revise patient care plans. Monitor, record, document and communicate patients’ conditions. Administer prescribed medications and treatments. Note and carry out physician and nursing orders. Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs. Educate patients and their families. Minimum Qualifications Graduate from an accredited school of Professional Nursing (ADN or BSN program) Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross If in a Critical Care area an Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) Certification must be presented upon hire or within first year of employment One year current acute care RN experience in a hospital setting required for acute care settings Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN) Passionate about cardiac care Completion of a clinical rotation in a cardiac ICU Strong cardiac and ICU experience and exposure Physical Requirements Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye‑hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours. Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids. Medium Work – Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work. Personal Protective Equipment Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required. Pay Range Minimum hourly: $35.50 Maximum hourly: $55.60 The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires. A successful candidate’s actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate’s work history, experience, skill set and education.
