Director, Strategy & Corporate Development

Eaton’s Corporate Development and Strategy team is seeking a dynamic Director, Corporate Development and Strategy. The preferred location for this Director will be Beachwood, Ohio. What you’ll do: Eaton is seeking a Director, Strategy & Corporate Development (SCD). The preferred location for this role will be based in our Beachwood, OH location and will report to the Vice President of Strategy & Corporate Development (SCD). This person will work with Eaton’s corporate, sector, and business leaders to advocate and execute acquisitions, divestitures, and joint ventures. The role owns and leads multiple transactions in parallel, with accountability for outcomes, timelines, and value creation. It includes assisting business teams in refining acquisition strategies, leading cross‑functional due diligence teams, managing the relationship with the counterparty and its advisors, determining valuation, understanding business issues and risks and reflecting them appropriately in transaction agreements, and leading negotiations through signing and post‑signing. This person will drive the transaction to completion and assist with the transition to our integration teams. He/she will also work to help shape Eaton’s corporate strategy, performing financial analysis and industry research, collaborating with Eaton’s CEO, CFO, and other company leadership, and assembling presentation materials that are shared with Eaton’s Board of Directors and investor community. Essential responsibilities include: Lead teams through acquisition, divestiture, and joint venture processes from initial evaluation through signing and closing Own and manage a portfolio of active M&A transactions concurrently, setting priorities and ensuring disciplined execution across deals Synthesize strategy, valuation, and due diligence findings to develop clear executive‑level communications for senior leadership reviews Develop and implement negotiation strategies; serve as Eaton’s lead negotiator on select transactions Collaborate with business teams to develop complete business cases with strategic and financial analyses Develop value‑creating corporate strategies by performing financial analysis and industry research and partnership with leaders across the company Build effective corporate strategy and transaction presentations for Eaton’s senior leadership, Board of Directors and external audiences Coach and mentor Managers and Associates, developing their deal judgment, executive communication skills, and leadership capabilities Lead or sponsor continuous improvement initiatives across the Strategy and Corporate Development function, including M&A processes, tools, training, and playbook Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and Master’s in a related field and/or MBA from an accredited institution Minimum of 10 years in M&A/corporate development roles of increasing responsibility, with at least 5 years post‑MBA (or ~7+ post‑graduate) experience with practical experience in all stages of M&A processes Experience leading a wide breadth of transactions through due diligence, contract development & negotiations, signing, and completion over varied sizes from small (sub $25M) to large (over $1B) Global experience including leading acquisitions or joint ventures with U.S., European, and Asian targets Experience presenting to and interacting with C‑level executives with previous professional experience working in corporate development M&A transaction and corporate strategy experience in industrials, electrical, and aerospace industries preferred Legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis without company sponsors Position Criteria: Strong time management skills; ability to work on multiple projects at one time Effective leading both junior and senior‑level groups—ability to quickly assess acquisitions and other investments, and communicate the key strategic value elements, areas of synergy, key risks and value detractors Professional presence to be able to communicate and operate comfortably and efficiently with senior executives, transaction counterparties, and advisors Strong verbal and written communication skills Proven negotiation skills with the ability to lead through influence across both internal and external stakeholders Demonstrated financial and business acumen—advanced Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint skills, and knowledge of industry research platforms Travel as necessary for project work approximating 25% of work time Core competencies: Results Orientation—ability to deliver breakthrough results in a complex business environment; introduce substantive improvements; clear and persuasive communication style that inspires maximum impact Change Leadership—take specific actions to influence and mobilize others to undertake change, publicly track progress, and energize people to participate and continue in the change process Team Leadership—create a sense of team ownership, empower the team, provide coordination across different functions and regions, take personal risk in sharing or assigning significant responsibility, and reward and recognize employees who take initiatives beyond expectations Strategic Orientation—develop a forward‑thinking vision and strategy for the Corporate Development & Planning function consistent with the global direction and vision of the business; incorporate competitive issues, trends, and key factors influencing the business; experience in developing a strategy covering a range of segments and/or markets Compensation and Benefits: At Eaton, we strive to provide compensation and benefits that attract, engage, and retain the best talent. This includes competitive pay and a variety of benefit programs for eligible employees. The expected annual salary range for this role is $182,000 – $266,000 a year. This role is also eligible for a variable incentive program. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
