Support Engineer (Big Data & AWS)

Our client, a leading organization in the financial services industry, is seeking a Big Data Engineer - RQ206 to join their team. As a Big Data Engineer - RQ206, you will be part of the Data Operations Department supporting the Market Regulation team. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong problem‑solving skills, adaptability, and a collaborative mindset, which will align successfully in the organization. Job Title Support Engineer (AWS & Big Data) Location Rockville, Maryland Pay Range $73-76/hr depending on years of Experience What's the Job? Support and maintain Big Data operations in AWS for market regulation activities. Monitor batch processing, data execution, and SQL queries to ensure smooth data workflows. Automate data monitoring and management tasks using Python scripting and SQL queries. Operate cloud infrastructure solutions on AWS and Azure, including EC2, Lambda, Virtual Machines, and Container Instances. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to optimize system performance and implement automation initiatives. What's Needed? At least five years of experience in systems administration or support roles in a production environment. Proficiency with AWS services, cloud infrastructure, and scripting languages such as Python and PowerShell. Experience with SQL, Postgres, Oracle, or similar databases, including query development and optimization. Knowledge of batch scheduling tools like JAMS or AutoSys and experience managing workload automation. Strong troubleshooting skills for Windows and Linux operating systems, including patching and application deployment. What's in it for me?
