About the Role:

The Maintenance Assistant plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and safe operation of healthcare facilities by supporting the maintenance team in routine and emergency repair tasks. This position involves performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting equipment issues, and assisting with facility upkeep to maintain a clean, safe, and functional environment for patients, staff, and visitors. The Maintenance Assistant will collaborate closely with other departments to promptly address maintenance requests and minimize downtime of critical healthcare infrastructure. Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and maintenance instructions.
• Physical ability to perform manual labor, including lifting, climbing, and standing for extended periods.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience in maintenance within a healthcare or similar regulated environment.
• Certification in HVAC, electrical, or plumbing trades.
• Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
• Basic knowledge of OSHA and healthcare facility safety regulations.
• First aid and CPR certification.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in performing routine inspections and preventative maintenance on medical and facility equipment.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests, diagnosing issues and performing repairs or coordinating with specialized technicians as needed.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, inspections, and inventory of supplies.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety standards by following established protocols and reporting potential hazards.
• Support the setup and breakdown of equipment and furniture for various healthcare activities and events.
