Shift Supervisor - Diesel Fleet Maintenance

At Ryder, we invest in our people. As an Operations Supervisor, you will support the Ops Manager/Sr. Ops Manager in managing daily operations for a shift at our Kansas City, MO location. You will lead a team that includes Technicians‑In‑Charge, Customer Service Coordinators, Technicians, and Service Employees, ensuring that customer needs are met while balancing financial, quality, safety, and asset targets. Position Summary The Ops Supervisor is responsible for meeting mandatory performance metrics and propelling the shop toward its Net Maintenance Cost per Unit and customer satisfaction targets. This role provides cross‑functional training and is intended as a developmental path to the Ops Manager position. Work Schedule & Location Monday‑Friday, Second Shift: 2:00 pm – 11:30 pm Location: Kansas City, MO Essential Functions Workflow Management : Plan, assign, and track technician work; conduct shift and shop meetings; review and approve repair orders; execute warranty policies; triage unscheduled customer drive‑ins; perform yard checks for scheduling priority. Labor Management : Train, develop, and conduct performance management for all shift personnel. Customer Management : Maintain strong customer relationships, resolve issues, ensure vehicle uptime, support preventive maintenance scheduling, conduct customer visits per the Customer Care Plan. Asset Management : Oversee shop appearance and maintenance; evaluate tooling needs; manage vehicle in‑service/out‑service processes; maintain Parts Inventory policies. Quality Management : Inspect PM & repair work; conduct in‑process reviews; analyze root causes; ensure repair cleanliness; collaborate with Service Manager on technician qualifications; enforce safety and EPA compliance. Financial Management : Control shop costs, maintain P&L targets, manage payroll, purchase orders, invoices, fuel reconciliation, and customer bill‑back processes; enforce data integrity in Shop Management Online. Additional Responsibilities Perform additional duties as assigned. Skills and Abilities Professional representation of Ryder; effective customer interaction. Strong vehicle diagnostics and repair knowledge (preferred). Intermediate Microsoft Office proficiency. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred, 1–3 years of experience in a maintenance operations environment required (Ryder experience may substitute). Maintenance and technical experience in a shop environment required. Supervisory experience preferred. Experience with a Shop Management System preferred. Intermediate Microsoft Office proficiency. Compensation Competitive salary with potential annual bonus, commission, and/or long‑term incentive. Minimum and maximum base pay: $76,000.
