The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art is seeking an innovative, collaborative, and community-minded Educator, Adult Programs to create meaningful learning experiences that connect adults with art, culture, and one another. This position plays an important role in developing engaging programs that encourage curiosity, creativity, dialogue, and lifelong learning while advancing the Museum's mission of making art accessible to everyone.
Working closely with the Director, Civic Engagement and Community Programs, you'll collaborate with colleagues, artists, educators, and community organizations to develop and deliver inclusive programming that reflects the interests and needs of our diverse audiences.
What You'll Do
As the Educator, Adult Programs, you will:
- Design, coordinate, implement, and evaluate engaging adult learning programs and public experiences.
- Build and maintain relationships with community organizations, artists, educators, and cultural partners.
- Collaborate across the Museum to support successful planning, promotion, and delivery of programs.
- Coordinate program logistics, contracts, schedules, and assigned budgets.
- Evaluate program success using participant feedback and performance metrics.
- Stay informed about emerging trends and best practices in adult learning and community engagement.
- Represent the Museum at community meetings and events, helping strengthen connections between the Museum and the communities we serve.
What You'll Bring
We're looking for someone who is passionate about lifelong learning and believes museums can create meaningful community connections.
Qualified candidates will have:
- Bachelor's degree in Museum Studies, Education, Art History, Arts Administration, Visual Art, or a related field.
- Two or more years of progressively responsible experience developing, coordinating, and implementing educational or community programs, preferably within a museum or cultural arts organization.
- Knowledge of adult learning principles and community engagement best practices.
- Experience building collaborative relationships with diverse community partners.
- Strong organizational, communication, and project coordination skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.

Schedule
This is a full-time, exempt position. The normal work schedule is Monday through Friday, with occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays to support Museum programs and events. Some local travel may be required.
