MED SURG / PCU RN – CRITICAL ACCESS HOSPITAL (CAH)

Facility Overview

• 25-Bed Critical Access Hospital (CAH)
• RN will provide care across:
  • Medical-Surgical
  • Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
  • Telemetry
• Must be flexible and willing to assist in multiple departments based on census and staffing needs.

Required Qualifications

Licensure

• Active Washington State RN License Required
• License must be active at time of submission

Experience

• Strong recent experience in:
  • Med Surg
  • PCU/Stepdown
  • Telemetry
• Must be comfortable caring for a wide variety of patient populations and acuity levels

Clinical Responsibilities

Patient Care

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care
• Identify patient and family educational needs
• Provide patient education using appropriate teaching methods
• Monitor patient condition and respond to changes appropriately

Safety & Compliance

• Implement patient safety measures
• Proper use of:
  • Side rails
  • Restraints
  • Patient safety equipment
• Follow restraint policies and documentation requirements
• Adhere to infection prevention and isolation protocols
• Utilize standard precautions at all times

Documentation & EMR Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate and timely documentation
• Complete physician orders promptly
• Perform 24-hour order checks when assigned
• Ensure accurate charge documentation
• Communicate critical laboratory values according to policy

Telemetry & Equipment

Must demonstrate competency with:

• PCU Equipment
• Telemetry Monitoring
• Med Surg Equipment
• Troubleshooting essential equipment
• Accessing equipment manuals and support resources when needed

Communication & Teamwork

• Provide complete and accurate shift reports
• Communicate effectively with:
  • Physicians
  • Nursing Staff
  • Ancillary Departments
• Coordinate patient care across departments

Additional Duties

• Maintain and restock:
  • Crash Carts
  • Emergency Equipment
  • Patient Care Supplies
• Assist in other departments as needed
• Perform additional duties assigned by leadership
