Balmoral Advisors is an independent, sector-focused investment bank advising middle-market companies on mergers & acquisitions, corporate finance, and financial restructurings. The firm specializes in manufacturing and distribution, with particular focus on building products, chemicals & materials, industrials, and plastics & packaging.  Our U.S. presence is complemented by membership in Pandion Partners, a global association of investment banks. 

Analysts at Balmoral work directly with senior bankers on live transactions in a lean, apprenticeship-style environment, gaining hands-on experience and meaningful responsibility from day one. 

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced, lateral analyst with prior post-college investment banking or related experience.  The position is based in our Chicago office, with the option to work from home locally up to two days per week.

The position would start on or before early January, 2027.

Responsibilities

• Build financial models, valuation analyses, and transaction-related analyses. 
• Prepare client presentations, pitch materials, and confidential deal marketing materials. 
• Analyze company financials, operating performance, and industry dynamics. 
• Conduct industry and company research; synthesize findings into clear insights. 
• Develop lists of potential buyers, investors, and acquisition targets. 
• Support senior bankers in day-to-day transaction execution and business development.
• Domestic travel approximately 7-8 times per year or as needed.

Desired Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with a strong academic record and demonstrated leadership. 
• Strong foundation in finance and accounting.
• 1–2 years of full-time, post-graduation investment banking or other directly relevant experience (corporate finance, M&A, private equity, transaction advisory, valuation).
• Demonstrated financial modeling and valuation experience, with advanced Excel and PowerPoint proficiency.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong attention to detail. 
• Familiarity with AI-enabled research and productivity tools preferred.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, demanding environment and work extended hours when required.
• FINRA Series 79 registration preferred; otherwise, ability to obtain required securities licenses promptly after joining.Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Balmoral Advisors is unable to provide employment-based immigration sponsorship for this position now or in the future.
