Attendance Clerk

The Attendance Clerk is responsible for the tracking of daily absences and tardies for students. To comply with A.R.S. 15-807 - Absence from school; notification of parent or person having custody of pupil. Within two hours after the first class in which the pupil is absent, shall make a reasonable effort to promptly telephone and notify the parent or other person who has custody of the pupil of the pupil's absence from school.

Principal duties include answering incoming phone calls relating to attendance issues, ensuring teachers are taking attendance and entering the attendance data in the student management system, creating absence reports, calling parents of students who are absent, daily data updates in the student management system, filing excuse notes, tracking excessive absences, verifying enrollment documents, processing school record requests, tracking and following through on 30 day birth certificate waivers, copying IEP documents, processing withdrawn students, providing customer service to students and parents, duties as assigned for data entry in the student management system, and serving as backup for the site secretary.

Knowledge and skills required include knowledge of general school site rules and policy, knowledge of district rules of conduct and policy, skill in communicating orally and in writing, and skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with others.

Physical requirements include general vision, corrected to 20/20, hear or listen in the normal range (corrected) and speak and give directions clearly. Able to walk, sit, stand, kneel, lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects up to 50 lbs.

Minimum qualifications include working knowledge of Word and Excel, customer service skills, ability to multi-task, communication skills (written and verbal), working knowledge of student management system helpful. Bilingual preferred. Valid Arizona DPS IVP Fingerprint Clearance card. High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
