DC Power Level 4 Tech

Travel expectation : The travel expectation will be between islands with some overnight stays or evenings. There is also the potential for this position to travel 1 week out at an assigned project site, then return home on the weekend before traveling out again. Traveling is extensive, up to 80% of the time. A company vehicle will be provided for assigned territories. The position may require traveling out of state and following all DOT regulations. A CDL may be required for commercial motor vehicles weighing more than 26,000 lbs. Job Summary DC Power Level 4 (non‑IT) that requires a minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Level 3 Installation Technician or equivalent. Strong management skills are needed to supervise multiple/complex jobs and crews from start through completion and customer acceptance. The role reports to installation management and provides daily job status with pictures to project management. Assist in the training and development of Level 1, 2 & 3 installers assigned by installation management. A major aspect of this position is to ensure the highest standards of quality and service. Key Job Responsibilities Perform all qualifications of a Level 3 Installation Technician. Understand the standard for working on live power safely. Perform daily pre‑job tail‑gate safety/job meetings and document them. Analyze job specifications and drawing packages. Ensure installation is completed on time and within budget. Maintain a safe and hazard‑free work area. Meet all customer security requirements. Establish and maintain a professional rapport with customers, supervisors, and co‑workers. Provide job progress reports to supervisor on status of job, material shortages, customer complaints, and unsafe or inoperable tools. Perform required cable and installation testing prior to turnover to customer. Manage and report daily crew time and expense on job. Prepare installation Method of Procedure (MOP) and conduct MOP meeting as required by customer. Manage job scope of work changes using Job Information Memorandum (JIM) procedure or the customer JIM procedure. Resolve job specification and/or drawing issues with customer interface. Responsible for quality processes on job and performing in‑process quality audits. Perform quality checklist and correct any quality deficiencies prior to job completion. Manage crew tool requirements and track tool assets. Act as primary customer interface on job site. Supervise subcontractor work. Perform routine preventative maintenance. Operate working equipment with appropriate supervision. Lead and perform hot cuts during maintenance windows. Perform basic AC and DC wiring installation. Understand manufacturer specs and installation procedures of equipment for job. Shutdown or restart plant or equipment as needed. Perform battery removals and installations (new & replacements). Perform ore‑test and acceptance checklist prior to job completion. Generate accurate Midtronics/Fluke and other testing reports. Complete UPS factory training on Powerware, Liebert, APC, MGE, etc. Work safely and follow all safety requirements. Work independently or with a team in a professional manner. Perform other duties as assigned. Key Performance Measurements Score card reflecting performance in safety, project completion time, customer satisfaction, and issue resolution. Management observation regarding attitude, diligence, team contributions, and willingness & ability to learn new skills. Other metrics prescribed by Critical Power leadership, resulting in positive customer and company impact. Job Requirements High School or GED diploma required; associate or bachelor’s degree in electrical and/or electronics preferred or strong equivalent experience. Minimum of 2 years of OEM experience or five years of progressively difficult experience in DC power installation, maintenance, and repair. 5+ years related experience in a Central Office installation environment and a minimum of 5 years in DC Power installation. Knowledge of equipment, manufacturer’s specifications, and estimation experience. Strong engineering skills in site conditioning, DC power, primary power, batteries, common systems, transport/facilities, digital switch, and all phases of complex AC wiring. Must have or be able to obtain a TWIC card. Strong knowledge of customer and industry standards as well as IEEE standards. Working knowledge of basic AC and DC electrical/electronic theory. Strong communication, problem‑solving, and analytical skills. Ability to organize own work and work independently, with limited supervision. Skill to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds and needs, and across remote offices. Ability to clearly articulate ideas (both written and verbal) to internal and external customers and listen effectively to customer needs. Ability to develop and maintain strong workplace relationships with an emphasis on customer satisfaction. Collaborative mindset toward the greater good of the organization. Adaptability in a fast‑changing environment. Must pass all required pre‑employment requirements. Must have a valid driver’s license. Willingness to work overtime. Schedule flexibility, as services may be performed during evenings or weekends. Driver & Travel Requirements Drivers must be at least 18 years old to drive intrastate and 21 years old to drive interstate. Drivers must have a valid driver’s license at all times. Drivers must have a valid DOT medical card or the ability to obtain one per DOT/FMCA guidelines. Drivers must follow DOT HOS regulations. Drivers must be able to obtain a CDL to drive commercial motor vehicles or combination vehicles weighing more than 26,000 lbs. Physical Demands The physical demands include regularly wearing approved personal protective equipment, carrying tools, using hands to maneuver, handle, or feel, talking or hearing. Specific vision abilities required include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. The employee must maintain a high level of self‑awareness due to the high level of high‑voltage AC/DC power in the work environment. Work Environment The work is performed in various locations including data centers, refineries, power plants, telecom headends, and hospital settings, with co‑workers working side‑by‑side and moderate activity. Exposure to high voltage AC/DC power is common. Noise level in the work environment is moderate.
