As a Lab - Phlebotomist, you will be the welcoming face of the facility, responsible for drawing quality blood samples from patients across a variety of settings, including outpatient clinics, patient service centers, and in-office locations. Your role is vital in ensuring reliable lab results, directly influencing diagnoses and treatment plans. Responsibilities:

Collect blood specimens from a diverse patient population, including pediatric, geriatric, and adult patients, ensuring safety and comfort.

Properly identify patients and verify demographic information, including obtaining patient signatures after venipuncture to confirm correct sample labeling.

Prepare specimens for laboratory testing according to established protocols to ensure accuracy and quality.

Maintain meticulous records of specimen collection, labeling, and processing activities in compliance with policies and procedures.

Explain procedures clearly and compassionately to patients, building trust and easing patient anxiety.

Adhere to all safety guidelines, infection control protocols, and confidentiality standards to create a safe, professional environment.

Perform routine maintenance and quality checks on phlebotomy equipment.

Collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors, demonstrating leadership behaviors and process excellence.

Flexibly cover multiple locations, including patient service centers and in-office settings, with minimal notice, sometimes during weekends, holidays, or overtime shifts.

Contribute to a positive patient experience by delivering superior customer service and maintaining a professional appearance and demeanor.

Required Skills:

Proven proficiency in venipuncture and capillary collections, including pediatric and geriatric patients.

Certification as a phlebotomist (preferred; required in certain states such as California, Nevada, and Washington).

Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail to ensure error-free specimen handling.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining a team-oriented attitude.

Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to explain procedures clearly and empathetically.

Comfort working in high-volume, fast-paced environments and managing multiple priorities effectively.

Basic keyboard and data entry skills for accurate record-keeping.

Nice to Have Skills:

Medical Assistant or Paramedic training.

Previous experience in a patient service center or outpatient clinical setting.

Experience working with diverse patient populations, including pediatrics and geriatrics.

Knowledge of laboratory information systems (LIS) or electronic health records (EHR).

Preferred Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent is required.

1-3 years of phlebotomy experience, especially with pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.

Previous customer service experience in retail or healthcare environments.

Certification in phlebotomy (preferred but not mandatory; certifications accepted include Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or equivalent).

Other Requirements:

Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and a clean driving record (if travel is necessary).

Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.

Physical ability to stand for extended periods, perform venipuncture, and handle all related equipment.

Commitment to following all policies and procedures regarding safety, dress code, and patient confidentiality.

Willingness to travel to multiple locations and adapt to changing staffing needs.
