Lab – Phlebotomist

Responsibilities

  • Draw blood specimens from patients across all age groups, including pediatric and geriatric populations.
  • Prepare specimens for laboratory analysis following established procedures and safety protocols.
  • Educate and explain procedures to patients to foster trust and ensure comfort during the blood collection process.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of specimen details and collection activities.
  • Ensure the clinical environment remains safe, professional, and welcoming for patients and staff.
  • Demonstrate leadership behaviors and process excellence in daily tasks.
  • Follow confidentiality guidelines and handle patient information with sensitivity and accuracy.
  • Perform miscellaneous duties related to specimen collection and processing as directed by supervisors.

Required Skills

  • Ability to provide quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong phlebotomy skills with experience drawing from pediatric and geriatric patients.
  • Excellent customer service skills, especially in retail or service environments.
  • Proficient keyboard/data entry skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Additional Skills & Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred; required in California, Nevada, and Washington.
  • Minimum of 6 months of phlebotomy experience required; over one year preferred.
  • Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime based on staffing needs.
  • Reliable transportation to the worksite; candidate's home city should be within 20-25 minutes of the site.
  • Current students must have schedules that do not conflict with shift requirements.
  • Must be punctual, dependable, and committed to staying for entire shifts; excessive tardiness or absenteeism may result in termination.
