Company Police Officer (BLET Certification Required) 3rd Shift - Full Time

Job Description The starting pay range for this position begins at $19.44 per hour and is based on the level of qualifications and relevant experience above the minimum requirements. This full‑time position requires working 35 or more hours per week. Note: This role works a third shift and is eligible for a $2 per hour shift differential, making the typical rate $21.44 per hour. Typical Hours 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. (12‑hour shift). The schedule alternates 36 hours one week and 48 the next, averaging 44 hours per week. Responsibilities The Company Police Officer operates within all functions and operations of the Biltmore Company Police Department, enforces North Carolina laws and regulations, prevents crime, and protects life and property. Duties include vehicle and foot patrol of the property, investigations, and wildlife management. Requirements High school diploma required. Current North Carolina Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) certification. All experience levels considered; prior law enforcement and guest service experience preferred. Basic knowledge of modern law enforcement principles, practices, procedures, and techniques. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to communicate clearly, concisely, and effectively with a range of audiences and comply with company, state, and local reporting requirements. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, computers, and electronic data handling; ability to quickly acquire knowledge of Biltmore’s reporting systems and protocols. Must have or be able to obtain First Aid, AED, and CPR certifications. Valid North Carolina driver’s license with a clean driving record and at least 18 years of age. Physical Requirements Seated, talking, hearing, and seeing frequently. Occasional standing, walking, running, using hands to handle, reach with hands and arms, jump, climb, kick, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, twist, turn, crawl, push or pull objects and people, drive at high speeds, taste, and smell. Manual dexterity to operate handguns, rifles, ammunition, shotguns, handcuffs, ballistic vests, keys, pencils, pens, batons, ticket books, computers, and other law enforcement equipment. Occasional lifting and/or moving of more than 150 pounds. Vision abilities: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, night vision, and focus adjustment. Ability to effect an arrest, forcibly if necessary, using handcuffs and other restraints; subdue resisting suspects with approved techniques and weapons. Ability to pursue fleeing suspects and perform rescue operations, including quickly entering and exiting patrol vehicles, lifting, carrying, and dragging heavy objects, climbing over obstacles, jumping from elevated surfaces, climbing through openings, crawling in confined areas, balancing on uneven surfaces, and using body force to gain entrance through barriers. Operate law enforcement vehicles during day and night, including emergency situations with speeds exceeding posted limits, congested traffic, and unsafe road conditions such as fog, rain, ice, and snow. Perform rescue functions at accidents, emergencies, and disasters, directing traffic, administering emergency medical aid, lifting, dragging, and carrying people away from danger, securing and evacuating people from specific areas. Essential Job Duties Participate in the development of goals, objectives, policies, and priorities for the department. Participate in law enforcement programs to better carry out the policies and goals of the Biltmore Company. Conduct special investigations as needed. Work shifts, including a rotating schedule of days, evenings, and midnights on weekdays, weekends, or holidays. Evaluate evidence, witnesses, and suspects in criminal cases to identify trends, similarities, or associations with other cases. Participate in annual law enforcement in‑service training and other required training events. Prepare and submit incident reports regarding actions occurring on the property, including criminal investigations and vehicle accidents. Meet with other law enforcement officials, community, and business representatives on all aspects of the department’s activities.
