Position Summary
A Medical Assistant (MA) supports physicians and clinical staff by performing both clinical and administrative duties to ensure efficient patient care and smooth daily operations in a medical office or clinic.

 

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Duties

• Prepare exam rooms and ensure proper sterilization of instruments
• Take and record vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, pulse, weight, height)
• Assist providers during examinations and minor procedures
• Administer injections and medications as directed (within scope of practice)
• Collect and prepare laboratory specimens
• Perform EKGs, phlebotomy, and basic wound care (as trained/authorized)
• Update and maintain accurate patient medical records in the EHR system

Administrative Duties

• Greet and room patients; explain procedures and instructions
• Schedule appointments and manage patient flow
• Verify insurance eligibility and collect co-payments
• Handle phone calls, referrals, and prescription refill requests
• Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations
• Order and stock medical supplies

 

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred
• Certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA) required.
• CPR/BLS certification
• Basic computer skills and experience with EHR systems
• MUST BE BILINGUAL

• Combination of standing, walking, and sitting
• Direct patient contact throughout the workday

 

Schedule & Compensation

• Full-time or part-time; may include evenings or weekends
• Competitive hourly wage or salary based on experience and certification
