You will play a vital role in infection control and patient safety by ensuring all equipment meets the highest industry standards.Key Responsibilities :• Decontamination & Sterilization : Clean and sterilize surgical instruments and medical equipment per AAMI standards. • Instrument Preparation : Inspect, assemble, and wrap surgical trays and equipment for use. • Inventory Management : Maintain supply levels and ensure timely distribution to patient care areas. • Equipment Handling : Operate specialized medical sterilization equipment safely and efficiently. • Patient Support (Cedar Falls location only) : Transport patients and assist nursing staff with pre-operative procedures.What You Need to Succeed• Education : High school diploma or GED required. Specialized training in sterile processing preferred. • Experience : Minimum 6 months of experience working with surgical instruments or patient care support. • Skills & Knowledge :Familiarity with medical terminology and sterilization techniques.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize urgent requests.Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills. • Certifications : Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.Work Environment & Physical Requirements• Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 25 lbs; push/pull up to 150 lbs. • Exposure to sterilization equipment, potential infectious materials, and a high-paced hospital setting. • Must be comfortable working under pressure and following strict safety protocols.Apply Today & Make a Difference!If you are passionate about patient safety and medical equipment sterilization, we invite you to apply for the Sterile Processing Tech II role at MercyOne.
