Facilities Technician IIIRESPONSIBILITIES:Utilizes specialized equipment to repair and maintain complex machinery, equipment, and facility property to prevent further damage and ensure optimal operationPerforms routine and non-routine facility inspections and monitors cleanlinessTroubleshoots, escalates, and documents issues according to established policies and proceduresReceives, inspects, inventories, and distributes deliveries independently to appropriate entitiesAssists trades, crafts, vendors, and technical staff with construction, design, and operational maintenance as neededMust be available for occasional after-hours call ins weekday and weekendsMust be available for occasional assistance to Grounds Dept for snow removalOther duties as assignedPerform occasional asbestos-related work, including collecting bulk samples of suspected asbestos; containing materials for laboratory analysis and occasionally performing small-scale glove-bag removals.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Read, write, and communicate effectivelyUse of computer, smartphone, and laptopMechanical AptitudePossession of the required Asbestos Worker Certification at the time of hire or must successfully obtain and maintain within one year of employment. The University will provide and pay for all required training and certification costs.H.S.
