Maintenance Support Technician

Location: Sparta, MI  Shift: 1st shift Pay: $20/hr

Job Summary

Are you mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and looking for an opportunity to grow your career in industrial maintenance? We're seeking a motivated Maintenance Support Technician to join our team.

In this role, you'll play an important part in keeping our maintenance department organized and efficient by purchasing, managing, stocking, and staging spare parts. You'll also assist with preventative and predictive maintenance activities while supporting equipment reliability and departmental KPIs.

What You'll Be Doing

As a Maintenance Support Technician, your core responsibilities will include:

• Purchasing & Inventory: Manage maintenance purchasing, requisitions, inventory, and storage areas.
• Vendor Coordination: Obtain quotes and coordinate with vendors and contractors.
• Preventative Maintenance: Prepare teams, stage parts, and assist with scheduled maintenance and repairs.
• Equipment Maintenance: Troubleshoot, adjust, calibrate, and repair machinery and components.
• Mechanical Support: Assist with hydraulic, pneumatic, and general equipment maintenance.
• Continuous Improvement: Support preventative and predictive maintenance programs and departmental KPIs.

What We're Looking For to be successful in this role, you should have the following:

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and maintenance-related experience, such as replacing shafts and bearings.
• Electrical troubleshooting skills.
• Welding experience preferred.
• PC proficiency, including Microsoft Outlook and Excel.
• Willingness and ability to learn SAP, Ariba, and other purchasing and inventory management systems.
• Ability and willingness to obtain forklift and lift equipment licenses.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work independently or as part of a team.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to maintain clean, organized work areas.

Skills:

• Mechanical & Maintenance: Strong mechanical aptitude and knowledge of manufacturing equipment, machine repair, and preventative maintenance.
• Technical Skills: Basic PLC, electrical, HVAC, hydraulic, and pneumatic knowledge, with the ability to read blueprints and schematics.
• Machining & Fabrication: Familiarity with bearings, keyways, pipe threading, and machining equipment.
• Facility Operations: Basic knowledge of water treatment, boilers, cooling towers, and cooling systems.
• Organization & Communication: Strong organizational, communication, and inventory management skills.
• Learning & Teamwork: Self-motivated, adaptable, and able to work independently or collaboratively across departments.
