Sr. Specialist, Aerospace Engineering - Turbo Machinery The role is part of the Aero Thermal Fluids (ATF) group based out of the Canoga Park facility. Job Code: 37918 Job Location: Canoga Park, CA Job Schedule: 9/80 Employees work 9 out of every 14 days – totaling 80 hours worked – and have every other Friday off. Successful candidates will: Lead the analysis, design, and optimization of turbomachinery for liquid rocket engine systems, with deep expertise in inducers, impellers, volutes, pumps, turbines, and other rotating machinery operating in cryogenic and high-temperature environments. Possess a strong understanding of cavitation, NPSH analysis, rotor‑stator interaction, tip leakage flows, secondary flow losses, and high‑temperature turbine cooling techniques. Be familiar with engine cycles (gas generator, staged combustion, expander, etc.), cryogenic propellants, high‑speed rotating equipment reliability. Essential Functions: Perform thermodynamics, aerodynamics, hydrodynamics, and CFD analysis using commercial and in‑house tools or hand calculations, correlating models with test data. Strengthen the technical capacity of the company and mentor less experienced engineers and team members. Produce analysis reports and test reports, presenting findings to internal and external customers. Support verification tests and collaborate with designers and project engineers by providing analysis support. Coordinate risk and opportunity management for development and production programs. Obtain a U.S. security clearance. Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of relevant experience; or Graduate Degree and minimum 4 years of relevant experience; or minimum 10 years of experience in lieu of a degree. Preferred Additional Skills: Extensive experience with LINUX & HPC systems. Strong background in aerodynamics, fluid dynamics, and thermodynamics. High proficiency with commercial codes such as ANSYS Workbench, FLUINT, CFX, CFD++, Cadence Pointwise. Extensive experience in programming with MATLAB, FORTRAN, Python. Salary and Benefits: In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Washington, and the Greater D.C., Denver, or NYC areas is $102,000 – $189,000. In Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New York state, Cleveland Ohio, and Vermont the range is $88,500 – $164,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation; final offers may vary based on experience and location.
