Respiratory Therapist (Adults)

This position performs respiratory therapy procedures per protocol and those ordered by physicians to improve the cardiopulmonary conditions of patients ranging from newborns to geriatric ages. Clinical Respiratory Therapists primarily work with patients in critical care units, adult general care, and pediatric general care.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough patient assessments to facilitate effective care implementation.
• Initiate or modify a patient's plan of care as necessary under established protocols.
• Ensure accurate documentation of all patient records and department logs.
• Maintain knowledge of technological advances in relevant areas and apply clinical applications appropriately.
• Strive to achieve a positive patient experience by establishing connections, clearly communicating procedures, and providing service recovery when necessary.

Call Requirements

Call requirements will be discussed during the interview process. Travelers may need to float to different areas as necessary and may be required to work on major holidays.

Qualifications

• Must possess RRT certification and a valid state license.
• Required to apply for State of Nevada Point of Care Analyst license, Director of Point of Care, or General Supervisor of Point of Care prior to starting.
• AHA BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required prior to starting.
• Minimum of 2 years of acute care respiratory therapy experience, including recent critical care experience.
• Prior travel experience must include at least one 13-week assignment.

Work Environment

This position operates in a fast-paced environment that serves a wide geographic area. The facility is a Level 2 trauma center with significant patient volume, including emergency and trauma cases. The position requires adaptability to a dynamic scheduling system, including weeknights, weekends, and potential additional shifts as needed.

The role comes with the responsibility of delivering optimal patient care while also ensuring a smooth operational flow within the department. Comprehensive mental effort is essential for making informed decisions, exercising judgment, and ensuring safe patient interactions.
