We are seeking a Java Developer to join the Partnership Risk Engineering team. This role is ideal for a hands-on engineer passionate about scalable system design , cloud-native development , and intelligent automation .

Backend Software Engineer Java & Python

We are seeking an experienced Backend Software Engineer with strong hands-on development experience in both Java and Python . This role will focus on designing, building, and supporting scalable backend applications, APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.

The ideal candidate is a true backend engineer who has used Java and Python in production environments and is comfortable working across both technology stacks.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain scalable backend applications and services using Java and Python .
• Build and enhance RESTful APIs, microservices, and distributed backend systems .
• Develop production-quality Java applications using Spring Boot/Spring Framework .
• Develop backend services, automation, APIs, and data-processing components using Python .
• Work with relational and NoSQL databases to design efficient data models and queries.
• Integrate backend services with internal systems, third-party APIs, and cloud-based platforms.
• Troubleshoot performance, scalability, and production issues.
• Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code and participate in code reviews.
• Collaborate with engineering, architecture, DevOps, product, and QA teams throughout the development lifecycle.
• Support CI/CD pipelines, containerized environments, and cloud deployments.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend software development experience .
• Strong hands-on professional development experience with Java AND Python .
• Strong Java experience with Spring Boot, Spring Framework, REST APIs, and microservices .
• Strong Python development experience building backend applications, services, APIs, or data-processing solutions .
• Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and distributed systems .
• Experience with SQL and relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or Oracle.
• Experience with Git and modern software development practices.
• Experience writing unit and integration tests.
• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming, data structures, algorithms, and software design principles .
• Experience troubleshooting and optimizing production backend applications.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP .
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes .
• Experience with Kafka or other event-driven/messaging technologies.
• Experience with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, DynamoDB, or Cassandra.
• Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI.
• Familiarity with observability and monitoring tools.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum engineering environments.

Key Candidate Profile

We are specifically looking for candidates who have recent, hands-on coding experience in both Java and Python . Candidates whose experience is primarily Java with only basic Python scripting-or primarily Python with limited Java exposure-will not be the right fit.
